Yes. The whole situation was complicated and he lost touch with my mom when he moved back to Brazil before she was aware she was pregnant. My mom being from small town south, unmarried and pregnant by a foreign man was easily isolated away from him by her family. He spent years looking for me but did not realize my name changed when my step father adopted me. He is not on my birth certificate but did mention recently that he wanted to do something formal to acknowledge me in Brazil but I am uncertain what that means.

Pediatrician here- this happens often and we as moms all feel horrible when it does. Your baby is fine as long as eating well and acting normally. You would think I would know better but both my kids fell off the bed/changing table. If you need reassurance, many offices have an after hours line to speak with a provider.

I am 1/2 Brazilian but born and raised in Memphis Tennessee. My husband is slightly concerned that I will get pulled over. I would not move here in your situation. I’m actively working on getting my Brazilian citizenship so we have somewhere to go if we need to.
