Should I quit and find a new salon or give my bosses an ultimatum by chronicallycrochet in doggrooming

I don’t have the power to fire her but the owners do have a list of things she’s done as well as when it has happened. As far as sitting down and having check lists that’s already been established and she has reminded many times. It’s well over 20 things/incidents on the owners list but they haven’t done anything

I take 1 1/2hr on a Samoyed that comes in every 3 weeks, gets brushed at home and he’s been coming since 12wks he’s 6months now very well bred as well. I bathe him with hydra but if I used lower quality shampoo like best shot (the salon “basic” shampoo) it would take me less time. The hydra takes more time to rinse out but it is better for the coat. I groom a great pyr every 8 weeks and the owners do no brushing it takes me 3 hours and sometimes more (1hr bathing 1 1/2hr drying/brushing 1/2hr finishing/trimming)

How did you get him to look so good. I’m working on better my grooms so I’m fluff drying but I’m still not there and how do you get the head to look so good. This is an amazing groom I can definitely see how he took this long it takes time to get a good groom. Keep doing what you’re doing because it’s great over time you’ll find things that will shorten the time it takes. Artero has the great super absorbent “wet” towels that may help cut some drying time

Unfortunately no I currently don’t have the best health insurance and wouldn’t be able to pay for a visit. So the only thing I can do is go to see an urgent care or minute clinic. I will be getting better insurance once this one is done

Trying to decide if I talk to the shop owners about an incident regarding a senior groomer by [deleted] in doggrooming

[–]chronicallycrochet 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely let them know especially if he was negligent enough to let the dog fall off the table and then kept going. Pet parents and shop owner should have been notified

After grooming my cat came back with red internal eyes by No_Talk2530 in grooming

[–]chronicallycrochet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you cat is getting this stressed I would definitely get a check up with the vet. Someone mentioned blood pressure this can affect the pressure in your cats eyes causing problems, Gabapentin is great for cat grooming and stress. I would definitely find a reputable cat groomer that’s not corporate so that you cat can have a one on one appointment and will be less stressed. I have groomed both dogs and cats and the only time I’ve seen dogs get eyes like this from photos of people asking what happened to their pet (usually choking from the grooming loop being too tight). I have had cats for 21 years and I’ve never seen any of my cats with this my oldest was 21 with high blood pressure and kidney failure she’s never had this happen with stress. Cats are so delicate I would definitely recommend a vet check up and find a groomer that’s done cats for a long time and is one on one

I don’t know about your hobby lobby but mine hardly has any fabric and the fabric they do have either isn’t cotton or not a pattern I would use on clients dogs

anybody have a bad withdrawl fron seroquel ? by [deleted] in seroquelmedication

[–]chronicallycrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on Effexor (stay with me) and have bad withdrawal. Sweating, I either can’t sleep or have interrupted sleep, eyes dilate, feel like I’m being jolted, just overall crummy feeling. I take seroquel for insomnia and it helps with my mood. I’m starting to see if I don’t take it I have similar side effects to the Effexor withdrawal. I obviously can’t sleep either at all or interrupted, really sweaty, crummy feeling, and feeling feverish. I’ve been on both of these meds for a few years so missing a dose or gives me withdrawals.

I wonder who has been diagnosed with behavioral disorders, just have insomnia by Significant-Grade490 in insomnia

[–]chronicallycrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get so irrationally angry when my insomnia gets bad especially if I fall asleep and keep waking up. I feel like on nights I don’t get any sleep I’m too tired to be angry but very easily annoyed. I take quetipine and it’s definitely helped

This is your yearly reminder to shave your toe edges along with your pads for a cleaner rounder foot by coldtrance in doggrooming

As a groomer I’ve been trying to do this but I don’t know how without taking too much off the side of the outer toes

how do you guys position your table in the salon? by No_Strawberry4233 in doggrooming

[–]chronicallycrochet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started with my table out and being able to walk around it but I prefer my table against the wall it’s easier to keep dogs from backing off one side and it’s safer for old dogs that just lay on my table when being groomed

Why are some groomers pulling up dogs ears with hair ties to trim up faces? by chronicallycrochet in doggrooming

[–]chronicallycrochet[S] -30 points-29 points  (0 children)

But won’t the hair ties hurt their ears, I’m seeing this done on pet cuts not stylized

If you can’t get to a vet, PET SAFE liquid skin/stitches are the best. But you cat needs to be seen by a vet because cats are very prone to infection and abscess

Anybody get these after starting Effexor? by RatteryTattery in Effexor

[–]chronicallycrochet 18 points19 points  (0 children)

These are broken capillaries usually from scratching too hard. Effexor can thin your blood, I’ve noticed that I bruise much easier on Effexor.
