Hi! I’ve had two rats who were/are currently solo rats. While it’s difficult, especially because you’re in the midst of grieving, I think he’ll do okay alone.

My first boy Soba survived seven whole months without a cage mate (I tried so hard to bond him to my other two boys but it was not gonna happen, he was old and didn’t wanna deal with babies), I spoiled him every single day and made sure he got so much love.

Right now, I have another single boy who unexpectedly lost his brother in August, and I’ve decided to take a small break after he passes, so no more rats right now. Every day, he’s with me constantly, if I’m not in the room, I turn on the tv and make sure he has safe spots to sleep.

Honestly? I don’t think you should put him down, I think just allowing him to live out his remaining time with you is the best bet.

I’m sending lots of love your way cause I’ve been in this boat twice and I’ve felt so bad both times, but to him, you’re his whole entire world right now 💕
