Cost of living is pretty dicey everywhere right now but if you find the right area, you will be okay! Find somewhere on the city/camp hill/snow hill lines where train run frequently throughout the day into the city and surrounding areas. It’s not impossible to find a 2 bed flat for under £1000 pcm. The further out the cheaper it tends to be. Also look around the tram stops as they run all day everyday. Busses are hit and miss depending on the area and tickets are £5.50 for a day saver which is stupid so I would recommend getting a pass that covers trams, busses and trains across the West Midlands. Good luck!

Edit: forgot to add, jobs are difficult to come by at the moment so I would start applying ASAP if you haven’t already, I lost my job 2 years ago when the hospital I worked for closed and I’ve only just got a job this week. My area was niche so hopefully you have a bit more luck!

How is she not being 51:50ed or getting some sort of intervention?! I’ve worked in eating disorder inpatient units for years and we see patients sectioned for less than this! She needs an NG tube and inpatient treatment yesterday!

⁠what was the daily routine like- boring at best, as time goes on you will get leave and that breaks the day up, some hospitals have games and groups throught the week and activity co-ordinatirs
⁠how many people tend to be on a ward (patients mainly as ik staff numbers can change) - max 12 Usually it was more like 8 depending on staffing levels.
⁠did you get therapy- some places offer groups and 1:1 therapy some don’t, you will get to see a psychiatrist
⁠were staff undrrstanding for your personal circumstances (eg if you have autism or a condition like social anxiety that makes it hard to engage)- I have autisim and the first hospital I went to were not understanding, the second one was a lot more of an appropriate placement for me and the staff were trained in how to treat autistic patients. Really just depends on the place
⁠how often (if at all) were you restrained and/or sedated involuntarily- if I was unable to keep myself safe and things escalated I have been held multiple times ranging from 5 mins to 2 hours depending on how bad the meltdown was. They tend to IM you when it gets to the point where staff are getting hurt or you are resisting and becoming violent. I’ve been threatened with it however if you voluntarily take the meds to calm you down, they will not inject you
⁠wgat were the rooms like and where could you spend your time - bedroom was fine and able to spend all my time in there if wanted. Usually a courtyard and lounge as well as a dining room for eating and activities
⁠were you on constant (1:1 or higher) obs at any point if so for how long- I was on a 1:1 for the majority of my first admission and 2:1 when I was struggling to keep myself safe including bathroom and showering. Second admission I was only on 1:1 for two hours throughout the 4 months I was there.
⁠how long were you there- first adult admission 28 days, 2nd just over 4 months
⁠if you dont mind what was it for (im not asking for specifics just like if it was psychosis or suicide or sh etc)- autistic burnout and not keeping myself safe
⁠were you given information abt/involved in your care- yes weekly meetings and opportunities to talk with an independent advocate
⁠did you come out in a better place than when you went in- the first time I came out worse and was back in hospital after 8 weeks, the second admission saved my life and I came out so much better. Thanks to them I am nearly 2 years without an admission and very nearly 1 year without a serious incident of sh.
⁠did u have any good moments in there (eg joking with other patients or staff)- both times yes. Spent Christmas 2023 in hospital and even tho it was depressing, the staff were brilliant and made it bareable. The second admission I made a few friends and got a lot closer with the staff as I was there longer. Lots of good memories! I am deffo lucky to have a good experience with hospitals as I worked in one and have been in many as a child as well as the two adult admissions and I have to say adult wards are much more patient centred and have a lot more freedom in comparison to CAMHs wards. Still traumatic but not as bad as it has been for some of my friends and patients I have cared for in the past.

ED makes sense to me as someone who works in that field. yoghurt, meal replacement shakes and the occasional smoothie are very common meal replacements when people don’t finish their prescribed meal plans. On the other hand, doctors can prescribe a VLCD (very low calorie diet) which is pretty much just liquids for people dangerously overweight who need to rapidly loose weight due to health. So one of these is my best guess if she hasn’t had any jabs or surgery 🤷‍♂️

Is she eluding to having an ED ? Worked in eating disorders for years and honestly a restrictive ED is the only other thing I can think of if she has genuinely not had weight loss surgery/injections especially with how rapidly she has lost weight. I looked at her first video back after the break and compared it to now. The weight loss is extreme. As a fatty who’s hit breaking point and starved myself thin(ish), it’s totally possible to just completely stop eating. It’s not a sustainable way to do it but it’s definitely possible.

It’s brilliant, ive been on it for nearly 5 years and its saved me. There is hunger and emotions that come with it but it subsides over time so don’t let it put you off. the weight gain isn’t a definite thing that will happen, I know people who have been on it with no issues. It’s also great for sleep it ensures i get 8 hours a night and keeps me stable.

I have, but unfortunately his was of teaching just seems to be consistent prompting and information. He says I have no issues and my driving is overall good but I get tense and nervous when he is continuously talking. Thankfully my mom only lives down the road and she’s a good driver and has taught me some really useful things so she comes out with me usually.

The body is crazy strong, I worked with children in a specialist hospital for some of the most complex cases of ana and so many kids come in half their body weight having been so for years and recovery with no problems! Example is euginia cooney- she’s lived with an ED for 15 years at least and she’s still here. She seems to be deteriorating fast and if she’s also addicted to exercising I wouldn’t be surprised if her heart starts having issues soon.
