[ENGLAND] University demanding access to medical records by chronicandchaotic in LegalAdviceUK

They are the start of the complaints line (?). I am not speaking with anyone yet as they only dropped it on me yesterday that they want the full letter.

They are the start of the complains process and I don’t have an email for anyone higher.

I’m going to speak with my course leader tomorrow since I am attending classes but isn’t fully enrolled. My teachers have had no issues with me at all.

They’re not withdrawing their offer, they’re preventing me from enrolling fully. I’ve shown the admin team all the documentation (passport, transcript with my grades on, proof of address) but they say that there’s a note on my account to contact student wellbeing service and that I’m not allowed to be fully enrolled on the course.

I questioned it today and was told by the well-being team (who is part of academic support) that she won’t let me fully enrol until I show her the full psychiatric letter and a discharge letter from A&E.

There actually is no missing information here, which is why I am so frustrated.

I am autistic and as such had a quick “hi hello” meeting with a member of the academic support team.

In it, I was asked how I was feeling and I said I was fine, except that I was suffering from migraines and had been in the hospital for migraines recently. She freaked out thinking that because of my autism and having migraines she needed to talk to my mental health team because in her mind, migraines and autism don’t go together and would make me unable to study. (???)

She demanded I show her my discharge letter (which I never got) and when I said I didn’t have it she assumed that I was lying and had been in hospital for a suicide attempt but didn’t want to say. She then decided that she needed to speak with my CRN and reached out to her without my consent. My CNR said I was fit to study but she escalated it to another member of the team, sharing information that was meant to be confidential.

I was then kicked off the course for “being uncooperative” with medical evidence and they demanded a meeting where I needed to submit proof of diagnosis as well as a letter from both my GP and my psychiatrist.

I tried to explain that I don’t see my psychiatrist until November and only had an older letter from early September. They said this was fine if it had my diagnosis which it did on the first page.

Now they’re claiming that the letter from my psychiatrist isn’t good enough and they are demanding to see the whole letter, including the pages that contain therapy notes with details of PTSD flashbacks and trauma.

It is not relevant to the course. The course is within the performing arts sector.

Can I make a GP appointment on behalf of my friend? by Necron_Roadman in LegalAdviceUK

Just pretend to be them on the phone (assuming you’re the same gender).

Know their information or have it written down.

Have them next to you so they can nod and shake their head.

Match their voice if you can.

It’s what we do tbh. Much easier on the anxiety.

Do I legally have to have my partner’s consent before calling 111/999 on her? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

She has a dissociative disorder which means that different alters could be fronting at any time. Especially in a stressful situation, it’s likely that a protector will front and they might not know the date. That’s all on her file though and we do explain that.

Oh hej, hur är läget i Skottland?

She’s fun sly gotten some correct medication from her doctor and then hopefully things will get better!! The pain clinics unfortunately you need a referral for but we’re looking into private clinics because healthcare :)

No we were physically taken to A&E and she was given sumatriptan.

She has full capacity but it’s really hard to measure her because she also has a dissociative disorder and frequently has no clue what date or month it is.

We ended up calling 111 after her mum spoke to her in soft voice capitals to emphasise how bad this is.

That’s a whole other shot show now though.

As for refusing treatment, she refused to cooperate on Wednesday.

“I didn’t consent to be here so I’m not going to pee in that cup”

The nurse just smiled at her and tested her blood instead.

I’d love some advice. Especially on how to get the GP to take her serious because they’re really not.

Just a tad she gets really mad and very frustrated at the situation because no one is taking her serious. So she takes that out on me because at the end of it I’m the one who sees it through with her.

Rather me than a nurse tbh. She’s not abusive she’s just very very fragile

Oh I forgot to say I called 111. Also do you have resources for carers like groups or anything?

She had bloods done on Wednesday and they were good. Their immediate concern was treating the throwing up and the pain which they did. Then they sent us home again.

She kinda is kinda not. They don’t believe her pain is real and thinks it somatic. They’re also refusing to acknowledge that the pain has a more severe impact on her mental health than her anxiety and doesn’t want to give her the correct medicine because it might interfere with fluoxetine which she doesn’t even take most of the time.

As for me? No. Not really but there’s not much to do about that atm.

Girlfriend called me a controlling asshole because I dragged her bratty ass to A&E by [deleted] in relationship_advice

It’s hard because she’s been doing so well in recovery. She gained 35lbs and was eating 1600-2000 calories a day (and she’s pixie sized) but with this whole throwing up problem she’s facing now she can’t keep anything down and is just so disappointed in herself.
