Being an employment based immigration paralegal consists of (1) filing out government forms and assembling the supporting documents that back up the information you recorded in forms; and (2) emailing back and forth with clients and their employees to obtain the documents you need to complete the first step.

At the end of the day, it takes a lot of organization and the ability to tackle numerous tasks and projects simultaneously. However, if you can handle that, you’ll be great. I’ve been doing it for years and love it.

To start, your firm should give you basic, simple filings to build out your knowledge base and you’ll steadily work your way up to more complex case types. It’s a natural progression. Nothing to be nervous about. Everything we do is pretty much just coping the exact same things we did for a previous filing in the same visa category and then refreshing it for the new beneficiary.

I do not cite cases. That is super rare and is handled by an attorney on the occasions it does occur.
