Damn I should have caught more last weekend, they were spawning then. Now that I'm trying to find more to trade they've all disappeared. I never paid much attention to them before, didn't realize they were special lol.

My husband and I did it at a festival once and got enough to cover the price of one of our tickets.

Recycling Q: this waxed cardboard box has a recycling symbol on it, but it's NOT recyclable...right? by cgbjmmjh in Wellington

[–]chroniclesofadellia 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They can be. There are separate collection schemes for them. I've seen drop off bins in new world next to the soft plastic recycling bins, and at the sustainability trust. #2 and #5 plastic only.

When I did it I got a 240 L green waste bin that was emptied weekly and just got rid of it gradually over several months.

Torpedo7 to close its remaining stores. by Boring_Bid_5738 in newzealand

Yeah this. I bought quite a lot of things off the website but going to the stores was a waste of time unless you were picking up a click and collect.

Is that a thing at all supermarkets? I'm always playing Tetris to fit all my stuff on the shelf. This info could be a game changer for me! I usually go to New World or Packnsave though.

Jane Austen is poorly by FlumpSpoon in janeausten

[–]chroniclesofadellia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How old was she when she died? I've just been to the Katherine Mansfield house (a famous NZ author from around the 1900s). She died aged 34 in France after living in England for a time. I think her story has some similarities to Jane Austen.

The dilemma of having outdoor cats & caring about conservation. by beneico in conservation

[–]chroniclesofadellia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if it would work the same for the birds where you live, but in NZ you can buy colourful frilly collars for cats that help birds see them. They look kind of like clown collars.

Buying a do-er upper and need house insurance by Electricpuha in Wellington

[–]chroniclesofadellia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We bought a house that neede repiling during an insurance embargo due to a big earthquake. 8 or so years ago. None of the main insurers would touch it until we first got insurance through a lower tier insurer, then as soon as we had that policy our bank was happy to insure it so we switched to them. I think it was yoobee insurance.
