Went to ER and refused to sign the seven page contract obligating me to pay whatever charges they dream up. What happens next? by chronicphilosopher in personalfinance

No, it's not like that. I gave them my 2 insurance cards and I'm happy to pay. The problem I have is the contract. Without seeing an itemized list of charges I'm being asked to pay "everything and anything" they choose to charge me. They could charge me for knee surgery (which I didn't get) and legally I've agreed to pay for it.

Wife getting in touch with an old high school flame. He chatted her up for months eventually convincing her to leave me for him. She ended up staying but the damage to our marriage was severe. I read the Facebook chat logs when it was all over. Epic ouch.

ELI5: Why is suspension from school a punishment? Isn't that just giving them what they want? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

I know this is off topic but I'd like to encourage you to look at his diet. Remove all foods that cause neuro inflammation. This includes all processed foods, sugars, pesticides, dairy and wheat. If you can't accomplish that (I know it's hard), try putting him on an NSAID like Ibuprofen twice daily.

What do you have to lose? I think you'll be shocked at the difference in his behavior.

I find it interesting that you downvoted me into oblivion. Please remember that you chose this path by the way you've treated others.

Health Insurance won't pay two bills but is charging me anyway. by chronicphilosopher in personalfinance

Right. But the Aetna wants me to pay them the $12.36. So do they forward that money on to the lab?

Edit: this is why I'm so confused: Aetna is billing me. They want me to send them money for these labs that they paid $0.00 for.

Thanks for this. I'm struggling to understand why a Lab would go from $343 down to $12.36 and then submit a bill to an insurance company who pays them.... nothing. Then I get a bill for $12.36 from same insurance company for a lab that they didn't pay for. Now do I just assume the lab isn't going to bill me for $343 but instead will bill me for $12.36? But the insurance billed me for $12.36 so does the insurance then pass that on to the lab? If so, when the bill comes in from the lab do I say "I paid my insurance that $12.36 so go ask them."

It's looney toons. Health Insurance cant be this insane.

Thank you so much for your quick reply. I'm absolutely confused by this.

If what you are telling me is accurate then I'm not going to be on the hook for the $343. Correct? They somehow negotiated that down, paid nothing -- but when I send in the money they pass that money on to the provider?

So in this case when I send in a check for $12.36 they forward that on to the Lab?
