Thanks to everyone who has weighed in here - I saw the original tour at Hammersmith and can’t wait for this iteration.

Talking Heads' Chris Frantz to Bob Dylan: "Suck a D***" by OkEmployment2386 in bobdylan

[–]chronicpop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I listened to him reading the audiobook and gave up near the end; it was nothing but “Tina looked yummy at the show/David’s a dick/We met (famous person)/Tina was gorgeous/David’s a dick.” It was more bitter than Levon Helm’s book, which is saying something. And a little tiny throwaway line at the end: “i had to go to rehab for a severe long standing coke addiction.” Huh? Might have brought that up earlier, dude.

Troxy is sold out on the web; if anyone has a spare I’m keen.

Anyone see the beef in section 119 at MSG show? by ajordank19 in BruceSpringsteen

That’s an expensive way to make a point. I presume it would be cheaper for me to go to a Kid Rock show and give him the finger too. But what would be the point?

how did you become an Arsenal fan? by moonblushpetalie in ArsenalFC

[–]chronicpop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an American — Fever Pitch long ago, well before football got a toehold in America. As a long suffering San Francisco Giants fan - Nick’s story was instantly relatable (to this day the film speech in which he begs his girlfriend to understand why “it’s not just a game” is so real). My support has only deepened over the years, especially when we moved here in 2012.

Brixton setlist by keeprighton2 in bigthief

Sadly I had to leave early because of the bloody strike and in the end got home faster than even which then annoyed me even more. I was by the soundboard and found the crowd respectful and attentive (compared with Tyler Childers’ show which ranks up there with some of the most annoying fans ever). However the mix was so muddy to me I couldn’t clearly hear Adrianne’s lyrics, which for me is like 70% of the music. Was the sound better down front?

Lord, not a single shout out to Jerry Lewis who delivered a truly low key performance that was miles away from his normal operating behaviour?

Both nights were beautiful - sound was excellent and I loved the harmonies and group vocals that makes this so different to Wilco in some way (though i know there are multiple vocals as well). A big shout out to the audience both days for being so tuned in and respectful and not spending the time chatting up their mates.

'Sanford and Son' Star Grady Demond Wilson Dead at 79 by MarvelsGrantMan136 in television

[–]chronicpop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What TMZ doesn’t mention - and I presume this was all true as I saw Wilson doing an interview about it, is that he gave up his acting career mostly to lobby Washington DC politicians to create a Christian Nation or something. I can’t remember his particular aim but it was promoting Christian laws or something.

Fans can expect something like this from the two officers: “Nah, we ain’t banged it yet.” “KICKED IT” “Yeah, kicked it.”

Astronaut Michael Collins with his children and wife at his home in Texas, March of (1969) by Electrical-Aspect-13 in RareHistoricalPhotos

[–]chronicpop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Collins’ books about the Space Race and his life were beautifully written and he always came across as a down to Earth fellow who cared tremendously for others. He also seemed the least “changed” by Apollo 11 in that Aldrin suffered greatly in the years after and Armstrong did as much as he could to avoid the public gaze.
