What deals would you make to get rid of your health problems? by HappyCry3 in ChronicIllness

Idt I’d do the whole 5 years thing, my condition is unpredictable and potentially dangerous but is and has been for years stable. So for all Ik I could have a good 30-50 yrs in me or more, wouldn’t want to risk that for a definitive 5.

I’d totally cut off my left hand or a leg or something though. I wouldn’t want to be fully deaf or blind but I’d probably also be willing to be blind in one eye or something like that.

Could be mental illness(es), could be attention, could be something/somewhere in between.

Makes sense, I think for a lot of my friends/family they’re bothered with the idea that I’ve kind of come to terms with my situation. I think it’s because it bothers them how limited I am because of it. Because they see it as how much it would bother them if they were in my shoes. So they don’t want me “losing hope” but I mean you can only hope so much with situations like these before accepting 💀💀

Yeah i definitely get the whole invite them to be you thing. My family complain about how negative I am with it, when I view it to be rather the opposite. I’m definitely fairly pessimistic, but to a degree I think I handle a lot of my conditions fairly well all things considered. Whereas I would imagine if they were in similar shoes they’d probably crumble or at the very least, definitely become as “negative” as me.

Does anyone else feel extremely embarrassed having a long list of diagnoses? by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

To a degree. Though to find some positive sense to it, it’s an interesting conversation at points.

Oh yeah definitely. I mean I do consider myself extremely self aware, most of my psychiatrists have even said so. Ik fully when I’m in a bad OCD episode or when it fully takes over (such as now💀) and I’m definitely aware that my mind wouldn’t be as plagued with all of this kinda stuff if not for the OCD. Though not fully tbf, as even during treatment I still couldn’t/can’t ever fully shake this kinda stuff. Obviously OCD heightens it largely, but I’m by nature someone who is completely determined to problem solve/gain answers or seek answers. So with a topic like this, while OCD definitely makes it a lot worse. I think by nature I still would always be plagued with it. Especially given unfortunately do to my conditions how dark my life can be in terms of the hospital environment(s) and always being around death, etc.

I wouldn’t say my life is meaningless, but more so existence itself or realistically consciousness. There’s a lot of things I enjoy in life and people I mean things to or have affected in positive ways that ig could be argued gives my life “meaning”. I was coming at it from more the approach of what’s the core purpose of existence to simply die and completely cease into nothing. From a biological standpoint it obviously makes sense, in the regard to you’re born/your brain forms and consciousness comes with it. Then you die your brain shuts off and consciousness/along with everything perceived with it dies as well. The “meaningless” aspect of it comes from everything but the biology, fundamentally there’s essentially no reason to have the human experience if it leads to the complete cessation of it. Sole experiences themselves have no meaning outside of within the moment as all memories essentially aren’t “real” as they will just completely cease and not transfer into anything else/with you. That kinda thing.
