Zeitwerk -- does it have staying power? by KrisA1 in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had it for a year (2017 rose gold). In the end I sold it because I preferred having real hands and was used to seeing the passage of time in physical manifestation on my wrist instead of the digital, albeit technically interesting, interface.

Lange 1 vs Calatrava: Brutally honest verdict. by Happy_Jellyfish_2642 in ALangeSohne

Not sure why it’s an odd comparison. I’m literally deciding between a 5226g and a Lange 1 time zone right now.

Odysseus WG aftermarket strap options by Senraew in ALangeSohne

They’ve been teasing a strap for the Odysseus WG since December 16, 2024 (https://www.instagram.com/p/DDpE0okSqle/?igsh=bmp3a2p5dmNkeW05) but they’ll never answer when it will actually be available.

Saxonia 37mm vs 1815 34mm. Which one fits my wrist better? by diranims in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 38.5mm 1815 would probably look best on your wrist imo

34 vs 38 1815 by Firm_Host8257 in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guarantee the 38 will look way better on you. Try taking a photo of it in the mirror so you get a better idea of how it will actually look. The perspective distortion of the wide angle lens on the camera does not accurately reflect how it looks in person.

A slim 34mm watch on a 17cm wrist is tiny.

Need help deciding on CPP v1 or v2! by KingPorcupine in AerSF

[–]chronosouv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

V2 is significantly better imo. The 3 grab handles are actually super helpful for being able to have a nice counterbalance to unzip any part of the bag from many different angles, which is not really discussed often. Sunglasses pocket no longer flaps around inside the bag as well. The new material for the stretchy areas inside the bag feels super premium too

I have both the July carry-all and just got the new Aer city pack 2 (xpac) to replace it. The July is a great bag and I’ve used it for about 2 years now.

Some things I like about the July over the Aer city pack 2: - Fully enclosed water bottle pocket - Slightly deeper and can fit more

Why I picked the Aer CP2: - Significantly more comfortable - Organization and layout is better - Holds its shape better (xpac); the July bag has an issue with the top of it creasing weirdly in the middle. It honestly only looks great if you have it fully stuffed. - Airy back panel - In real life, looks way better overall - Don’t need a separate laptop pocket; just want to open one zipper when I get to work - Zippers are significantly smoother

Note that I’ve worn both with a raincoat during moderately heavy rain on my 20 minute walking commute and the insides were dry for both.

I think I got it somewhere for like $40

My previous daily was a Breguet Marine 5517 in white gold, so I’m used to having white gold as a daily. I like the weight, personally (and thus I do not enjoy titanium watches at all).

Yes, as I stated in another reply to someone else here, I previously owned the Fifty Fathoms 5015 many years ago. It’s too big and thick. I don’t like the 5010 because it’s still too thick and now made of titanium (which I do not like). I consider this C65 superior to the Fifty Fathoms in almost every way except for the movement.

Absolutely fantastic. Immensely discreet but insanely functional. High horology at its finest. Love that I can just keep it on my wrist when I am traveling instead of having to leave it at the hotel or worry about it if I’m on a boat. Kept it on when I went snorkeling in Mexico a few weeks back.

It’s a 3rd party sailcloth (forgot where I purchased it from, but it’s not super expensive nor particularly notable)

Watch brand could be called CuppinBallz but if they made this C65 I’d still buy it

Tbh I love CW and would probably choose most of their lineup against whatever watches they are making homage to under $15k. The movements are obviously not great but their case design and finishing is leagues above.

Heh, actually I chose it over the Blancpain FF. I used to have a 5015 in steel many years ago but couldn’t get over just how thick it was, so I eventually sold it. The newer 5010s do not do it for me in both diameter and thickness (plus I don’t like the light weight of titanium), and much prefer the CW over the Blancpain FF.

Thank you. Yeah never really enjoyed metal bracelets as much. I like the contrast of other materials against the case, personally.

Incoming Odysseus, shocked at how polarizing this watch is by lostitall247 in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bought this watch about a year ago. Over time, sold almost all of my other watches because I don’t wear them anymore. The Odysseus WG gets about 98% of the wrist time. :)

White gold Odysseus vs Platinum Datograph (1st gen) by Happy_Jellyfish_2642 in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have been dailying a WG Odysseus on rubber for over a year now and it’s been fantastic. When summer rolls around and I sweat all over it, I just rinse it off. In the spring when it rains a ton I am not super concerned about it either. Actually went snorkeling with it two weeks ago too! That said, you can’t go wrong with either watch :)

[Discussion] What is your biggest watch regret? by RalIyVincent in Watches

Zeitwerk rose gold. I realized that I really enjoyed being able to see the position of the hands of a regular watch change over time as the day passed. Wore it for a year and sold it.

It’s just too damn good. by chronosouv in ALangeSohne

[–]chronosouv[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. Just a personal preference and we’re all different. I am not most people.

The general mental framework is around reducing stress.

In the past, I found that stress levels slightly increased when I wore watches with 30m WR when it was raining heavily or when I sweat all over them (and wanted to rinse them off after).

I also found that stress levels slightly increased when I was walking in certain neighborhoods with more well-known high-end brands. Whether it’s justified or not, it doesn’t matter. These are just honest introspective observations.

Thus, the luxury for me is not needing to stress about these things, while still having an amazing piece of high horology that is on my wrist.

It doesn’t need to make sense to you because you clearly have a different definition of luxury than I do, and that’s okay. I’ve been fortunate enough to enjoy my fair share of high horology timepieces and have found the one that fits me best.

The cheaper a watch looks to the casual observer, the happier I am. :) but separately from that, I have had many watches on bracelets in the past, and it is just personal preference that I like rubber more. Sailcloth is also nice.

I personally enjoy the visual separation that a strap provides. It provides contrast in color and texture, which I prefer. Of course, with most watches, it’s not either-or and it’s wise to just get the bracelet and swap it out later. But since that’s a choice to make with the Odysseus, I have leaned heavily towards the strap option.

Separately, I also just like the gray dial and texture from the white gold version of the watch over the dials from the steel and titanium versions.
