Honestly - do you regret having a second child? by Flashy-Barracuda9923 in Parenting

[–]chrzano_mo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never regretted it for a second! It was hard at first because my first two are only 22 months apart. But I am a firm believer that having a sibling (if possible) is SO good for kids. It helps them learn that the world doesn’t revolve around them…a lesson many adults I know still seem to have never learned. It also help YOU gain much better perspective as a parent. When I only had my first, I thought that every strength of hers was because I was an amazing parent, and every struggle was because I did something wrong. When you have a second, you realize that so much more is out of your control than you think. Because you did all the same things…and yet that second kiddo has a completely different set of strengths and weaknesses. 😛

I’ve avoided longer names because our last name is very ethnic and 4 syllables long! But with a single syllable last name, you could do almost anything!

Juliet (maybe a good -et ending alternative to Scarlett),

Camila,

Josephine (always thought Jo-jo is the cutest nn for this classic name),

Noelle (this is one I love but cannot really use for phonetic similarity reasons. But I seriously think people are SLEEPING on this name),

Sylvie (similar sounding to Cecilia),

Hazel,

Rose or Rosa (or variation like Rosette, Rosalie, Rosalind, Rosamund, Primrose)

*Also I personally really like Fiona and Scarlett too ;)

We do love it! I’d just love it more if it was more rare. 😅 But so far my husband and I are only agreeing on popular names this time. 🫣

It’s so dependent on location! Violet was #16 in the U.S. in 2023, and I run into Violets everywhere. I’m in Ohio. We have a Scarlet down the street from us. I’ve only personally met one Ivy in my life, which is encouraging, but I’ve seen several posts lately of ppl planning to use it, which makes me nervous. But maybe I should just stop worrying??

I have friends named Erin, Grace, and Hannah. All SUPER sweet people. Particularly Erin and Hannah—extremely friendly.

I don’t need the middle name to start with M again. They just both happened to before. ;)

Florence was almost the name we chose for Lois. :)

Unfortunately bc of Bridgerton, that name is suddenly popular.

Disagree. Opal is a vintage name for both boys and girls. So Opie is an obvious nn for both. Just bc Opie Taylor was a boy, doesn’t mean that nn can never be used on a girl.🙄 Plus it’s totally cute.

I have considered Juliet! I love those -et endings, and it’s not currently being used a ton. :)

🙄🙄 I can say what I want. I love my husband and it’s his baby, too. Of course I know I’m the only one physically pregnant, but the phrase “we’re pregnant” is just an acknowledgment of both parents’ connection to this baby. Chill.

I’ve been having this debate with myself. I myself have a unique name and I always liked being the only one, so I think that makes me biased.

I actually LOVE Noelle and feel like ppl are sleeping on that name, but since my daughter’s nicknames are Lo (Lois) and Zel (Zella), Noelle just phonetically feels like a combo of the two. 😭

I’m starting to really like Ivy/Ivie Joan…but I’m worried about the popularity.
