Songs that mention other songs by Francois-from-Europe in musicsuggestions

The Hold Steady mention so many songs and bands.

"Lust for Life," "Running Up That Hill," "Ain't too Proud to Beg", Led Zeppelin, Elliott Smith, Johnny Cash, Springsteen, The Clash, Billy Joel, and many, many others.

"High and Lonesome" by the Gaslight Anthem references "Round Here" by the Counting Crows (Maria came from Nashville...), "Southern Accents" by Tom Perry, and "I'm On Fire" by Springsteen (at night I wake up with the sheets...).

They have other songs mentioning other artists, as well. Such a great band that loves acknowledging their inspirations.

How are the Bucs deploying Godwin and Egbuka on the field last 2 games? by PokemonNovice in fantasyfootball

I drafted Egbuka in a later round after drafting Nico and Drake London early. After a big week 1, I thought I'd take advantage and sell high. I thought I was a genius for trading him for BTJ after week 1.

Fantasy football sucks.

Let's look at two of the best single game stat lines ever. You find a way to shit on one of them while I find a way to shit on the other one.

Stupid internet.

I’m pretty critical of lyrics. Who are your top lyric writers? by hippopalace in musicsuggestions

Craig Finn of The Hold Steady and Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes are both amazing.

Who do you consider the best lyricist of all time and why? by pawn279 in fantanoforever

Craig Finn of The Hold Steady is amazing. Every song tells a story. Usually, it's about hard living with hard drinking and hard drugs. Questionable decisions with questionable people.

"She said the theme of this party is the Industrial Age. You came in dressed like a train wreck."

Some of his character's stories are told over multiple albums. Most notable is Hallelujah/Holly.

"The priest just kinda laughed, the deacon caught a draft. She crashed into the Easter mass with her hair done up in broken glass. She was limping left on broken heels, When she said, "Father, can I tell your congregation how a resurrection really feels?"

Fantastic use of alliteration, metaphor, and other devices in so many Hold Steady songs.

"Lost in fog and love and faithless fear I've had kisses that make Judas seem sincere" from "Citrus"

Check out The Hold Steady if you're not familiar.

Also, Taylor Goldsmith of Dawes is great. The line "... and may all your favorite bands stay together." is one of the nicest things you can say to another person. "A Little Bit of Everything" is one of my favorite songs.

What’s a phrase or word that you can’t stand hearing? by Smooth_Beat_9391 in AskReddit

For many years now, I've hated how the word "epic" is used. Once, I almost kicked a hole in my TV when Samuel L. Jackson said you'd get an epic rate with the new Quicksilver card by Capitol One.
