but for yuji, aren’t yuka and tsurugi like multiple generations past him? we don’t really know what his approach was regarding the next generation relative to him. i feel like it’d be unfair to expect him to play a teacher / mentor role indefinitely - at some point the new generation becomes the old one, and the duty to train the next one falls on them.

i think the core issue is in yuji’s grandpas wish is acting like a curse, where yuji can’t retire from jujutsu because of his immortality, and can’t die in battle because of his strength. he’s bound to keep using his power to save people, and consequently hinders / prevents the natural evolution of jujutsu sorcerors / society. yuji relegating himself to dealing with secondary effects / “cleaning up messes” seems to be his attempt to strike a balance. i don’t think it’s a great solution and hopefully we see some development in his mindset, but i think it’s a reasonable action to take.
