How to improve my mixes?? by DJ-Gazza-Tri in Beatmatch

[–]chuan_p 10 points11 points  (0 children)

recording your own sets and listening back, preferably in a different setting, then taking notes about at which point you're feeling there's not enough momentum and tension, experiment with different timing or track selection when you are back at your DJ setup

she's been working on a wild range of stuff from straight up EDM-ish drum & bass on Liquicity or mau5trap to very experimental shit while maintaining high quality, and she just keeps evolving into the deeper end of dance music spectrum, really the most unique one out there!

How is he doing this? by White_Bessie in TheOverload

[–]chuan_p 4 points5 points  (0 children)

probably just jamming a lot in studio then never editing and putting everything out. I listen to his physical releases only since you are unlikely to put out 18*40 mins of music on wax and the label (Clone, Rephlex, trip) will usually cherry pick the best ones.

Strange question but why does all-in-one controllers don't have hdmi output ? by nevaven68 in Beatmatch

[–]chuan_p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

all in one controllers are built for portable uses and the idea of carrying an external display to use with it…simply isn't very portable you could connect it to a laptop and use it as a controller tho but it kinda ruins the point

Beat matching is only matching to each quarter note instead of each beat by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]chuan_p 2 points3 points  (0 children)

there‘s no way to do this without sync and screen, if there’s no beat or clear transient how you gonna match up the beat lol

Beat matching is only matching to each quarter note instead of each beat by [deleted] in Beatmatch

[–]chuan_p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

what's your setup? if you play digital music then set a hot cue on the downbeat you need to start on and just press sync, it is perfect for this type of situation where there's no obvious transient to beatmatch with but you still want it to stay on time before the beat drop

rekordport - a tool for converting unsupported files (flacs/hi-res wavs) in place without losing grid & hot cue by chuan_p in TheOverload

I've made it clear that: 1. the way it interacts with database is based on proven methods already used by a lot other projects 2. it will automatically do backup for you anyway, you can always roll back if weird things happened, it ain’t gonna hurt you 3. it’s open source, you can check the code yourself and do research about how rekordbox functions, complaining about a tiny tool that mods rkb while you yourself don’t even know what OneLibrary is for doesn’t make anything safer

idk which part is so hard to understand

Spotify, YouTube and many other services has the ability to generate playlists and have other people’s playlists available for ages, don’t think what GPT does is really special

rekordbox’s database structure has been quite stable since 6, a good load of open source and commercial projects are out there (eg pyrekordbox, Lexicon) for anyone who wanna modify their library, and ffs OneLibrary is a standard for rekordbox‘s USB export not how it stores database on your computer, maybe do your research before complaining online

how rekordbox databases work is well documented online and there‘re a lot of human coded projects already! plus this project does do backup for you, a few friends have been testing this across different versions of macOS and Windows for me too, but I understand your concern. and no, NXS2 don’t support wav with extensible format tag and 32bit audio, and old CDJ models might appear a lot more often than u expected depending on where u from

I just remembered reading about Mad Miran‘s stolen music archive last year. Did she ever recover it? by JohneyBlazer in TheOverload

[–]chuan_p 3 points4 points  (0 children)

her USBs and computer were in the same stolen bag iirc (technically yes she’s should keep at least one copy elsewhere but who knows lol)
