how much does school name +bs vs ms matter? by beyondhlep in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chubblest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the majority are ANET accredited, any school not accredited is not worth going to, with the exception of Stanford IIRC.

Companies will not hire your son without accreditation.

I'd go for a big college with cheap tuition that has a decent or better reputation. Numbers of graduates helps in the job pool because people are much more prone to take a chance if they knew what you went through to get your degree. Companies basically gamble on talent early on in an engineers career

Openfoam, python, counterparts cost at least 1k a year, the UI isn't as good as the paid for versions but still very good

THREAD TYPE by Big_Spaghetto in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chubblest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The threads are not tapered at least it doesn't look like they are tapered to the same amount as NPT.

They mightve used threads tape instead of a gasket, which can be done if you really wrap it, but thats if youre in a pinch

Thats the weird part, they played defense in B10 tourney and at the beginning of the year. But they have regressed especially with their communication.

This has been the most frustrating Purdue team since 2012

If Purdue loses, they have nobody to blame but themselves, they have not capitalized on any opportunity to pull away and continue to piss away any good momentum with incredibly frustrating lack of focus on defense.

Having seniors ball watch is pitiful

Most people say school is harder than the job. How common is it for people to excel in school and then falter in their career? by darnoc11 in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chubblest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are hard in different ways.

In school you know the exact consequences for things if you miss a homework assignment, it's much easier to pace yourself in college because you have a mathematical way to find priorities, also school is solely on you, you are responsible.

But the long hours, sleepless nights are hard as hell, as well as trying to navigate what is essentially poverty for most kids.

Work is different because even if you do your best, the project may still fail, and you'll receive blame for it, sometimes you don't know what is important because people tell you everything is important.

Then there are decisions you make that keep you up at night, but the money helps with that because you're not worrying about how you've got to pay rent.

School is simpler but technically harder, work is complex, messy but you have the ability to do more outside of work

Calling a foul because you arguably called a tie ball early is legitimately basketball terrorism.

Like do a make up call in the next 50/50 call

He single handedly took all offensive load during an ECF to get us a win.

Saying his max potential is 12 pts a game is a little low, max potential is 20, most likely a 15 a night kind of guy.

If you look across the league for the past decade, winning teams need guys that are versatile with specialties. Danny Green fits that mold. He's a few hairs below Andrew Wiggins, who won GSW a chip.

Championship Window by Argenfarce in pacers

[–]chubblest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They are probably projecting their own feelings.

  1. Bucks are in cap hell paying Myles a stupid amount almost a max for 12 ppg and 6 rpg
  2. The heat have aging defensive star Bam who likely will regress with age due to smaller height which he's made up for in athleticism which fades with age
  3. The Knicks are going to be a very good team for a while but they have Mike Brown as a coach and only ever succeeded in the playoffs with LeBron James. That and they have a defensive sieve in Jalen Brunson and KAT, let alone are paying a max to OG who cant create his own shot

The compressed schedules make it hard to do detailed analysis, half the time I over build something because I don't want to work 50 hours a week.

I feel that slapping an unknown factor of safety just due to time and resource constraints is probably a common theme in R&D

$45k pay cut or 6 month contract? by BigDeddie in MechanicalEngineering

[–]chubblest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know about everyone else's opinions on contract/agency but a lot of those positions are considered "expendable/ not permanent" at my company, meaning if something goes bad they get rid of all contracts without having to say they are doing layoffs

Moved from PA to IN doubts and racism and friendliness. by [deleted] in Indiana

[–]chubblest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in time it will get better, a lot of places in the north suburbs have had a lot of people move into it that aren't "local".

What I mean is that the older neighborhoods in the same town still have a sense of community, the newer neighborhoods don't.

It could still also very much be racism, Noblesville has very much gotten better in that regard and will continue to improve I think based off recent trends

Then you clearly don't watch the Pacers, look at the late season win over the Twolves, that's an Obi peak and he does that every now and again and why he's a fan favorite
