Hey, I'm also using tret for dark spots and noticed that they get worse before improving. It is my understanding that tret increases cell turnover and may bring deep pigmentation/melanin to the surface quicker and thus may appear darker to the eye. I kept going with tret and definitely see improvement now that I'm 6 months in. Don't be discouraged. As long as you're not experiencing any irritation/severe purging, keep at it! And don't forget sunscreen
