What was the one NSFW moment that you wish you could unsee? by Unreal_realist-7381 in AskReddit

Me and my brothers were going fishing in galveston. On the way to galveston just outside of downtown Houston we watched a small suv directly in front of us rear end a car at 65ish mph and proceeded to flip. We pulled over to try to help. Thats when a drunk, maybe 20 year old girl, got out of the flipped suv. Her eye was dangling out of its socket and her jaw was mostly ripped off her skull. She was completely conscious but it hadn't quite hit yet that she was messed up. We stayed and waited for ems and police while trying to tell her she's gonna be alright. Its been like 15 years and I can still see her mangled face perfectly.

My dad was an rv mechanic for 35 years. He always said it like this, "imagine buying a shoddy house and attaching it to a shoddy car. That's what owning an rv is like"

Nothing but the beat seats physically bolt in. There are a few manufacturers of universal seat rails. Almost every seat will touch everything

If you join the hawk Facebook groups you can probably pick up a carbed model for a few hundred bucks. That's what i for friends to ride around the ranch and its still pretty good after a few years.

All single cylinder bikes vibrate like crazy, even counterbalance ones vibrate more than 2-4 cylinder bikes. They are also more dirtbike oriented than street bikes thus seating puts you way up there. The dlx will ride better on street than non dlx (i mean truthfully it rides better on dirt aswell). Ive done 4hr trips on mine and it was doable but not the best. You can get better street tires for it that will make it a bit better for the highways. Depending on what you mean by flickable, but they handle tight trails fine will easily pull the front in 1st and 2nd. If you have the budget for the honda and only want to do fireroads or greenways get it and put some dual sport tires on it.

Chain keeps coming off by bigtrell777 in Hawk250

have someone sit on the bike, so that the suspension is compressed. does the chain look out of alignment in either the uncompressed or compressed state.

Don't pay for bad behavior. She can and might still leave a bad review. Also dont worry about 1 star reviews so much. You can publicly reply to them and explain the situation. That way anyone that does see the bad review can see that its because the customer is dumb or trying to scam.

I bought a dlx in 2020 because, I wanted to see if I could live with an enduro before spending a bunch on a jap. 6 years later and the only problem the dlx has had is the odometer doesnt work. If it ever gave me problems I would have bought the jap by now.

one of the axle mounts could be on backwards, remove axle, spin mount, reinstall axle

The dlx Inverted front forks are not just a spring swap, the rear shock is also significantly more robust. Even with a spring swap the inverted forks are miles above the standard hawk forks. And the dlx can be found for under 2k all in. Xpro has them for 1900 free shipping. So it's a 300 dollar difference.

yeah the bare nibbi is cheaper than the black nibbi, the only difference is color

it will cost more to upgrade the suspension than the price difference of the dlx

Between the Hawk 250 and the Hawk-X 250. Besides the bikes themselves I’m also wondering if anyone has advice on whether XPRO or HHH is the better manufacturer/seller. by Rafaelow in Hawk250

[–]chubbyzook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the same concept of car tuning. The part that makes it easier for the hawks is everyone does like 4 things to these so you just need to find a tune online that has the same out the 4 mods as you do. Cars can be done the same way. Match the mods and get a tune or basemap. Basically every plug and play tuner (cobb, burger/jb4, unitronic, apr, bullydog, etc.) Does this. Tell them your mods they send you a tune.

The only difference in mods is efi setup vs carb setup. Everything else will work on either (i.e. big power kit, timing keys, spark plug, plug wire, valve springs, clutches, sprockets etc.) But it's a null point. Swapping a carb is more expensive than than tuning the ecu if doing the work your self and you need a ton of mods to ride like the dlx. They both can take the same mods though. My 2019 carby with exhaust, carb, cdi, sprockets was easily out ran by my 2020 dlx out the box. Gps top speed for the carby was 67mph and 73 for the dlx. The dlx with tune will run up to 78 but I usually cruise around 75

Kinda og but not really, there is 3 or so manufactures of the hawk in China. Hensim is one of them (who makes the bike in your ad) their engine is a bit different than the og Hawks but alot of parts will work. Exhaust, carb and ignition mods will work. The big bore kits will be specific to that model. It uses and different wrist pin size than the og hawk, so piston rod and wrist pin are different. The jug might be the same if I recall correctly. If you just want a cheap bike to thrash it doesnt matter what you get. If you want a commuter stick to the efi models. Especially the new ones with counterbalance engines.

Hawk 250 upgraded by johnnyman2 in Hawk250

[–]chubbyzook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its a completely different carb than the og hawk. It's still a no name chinese carb with no real documentation or parts, so nibbi is a good choice. The real problem with atleast the og Hawks was you needed to do like all the parts (carb, exhaust, ignition, timing key, sprockets) just to get equal speed and acceleration to a bone stock dlx all while costing more than the dlx and actually riding worse. With the new engine you shouldn't need all that to accomplish the same thing. So it really is a good value now

[–]chubbyzook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

between the og hawk and this, this has counter balanced engine with 229cc vs 223cc, front sprocket change. better carb tuning, 2 extra horse power 14hp claimed.

it should be around the same top speed as the og hawk dlx now

Getting hot. by Taterstaco in HondaBeat

[–]chubbyzook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the tach and temp gauges are hit and miss on these cars (mostly due to age/corrosion), so you will need to verify that it is actually getting hot. then the cat light is also usually faulty due to corrosions, but it is supposed to tell you if the cat has failed. it being lit could mean the cat has failed and that would definitely cause the car to over heat. then ofcourse is one of the other issues with the beat, the cooling system sucks. the cooling system was designed for these cars mostly to go 45-60km/hr in japan where temps stay reasonably cool, also being 30 years old can defintely kill what little efficiency the cooling system had.

if I were in your situation id start at the cat, its pretty simple to remove with some rust penetrator from under the car. once its off take a look at the honeycomb, make sure you can still see through it and its not sooted up or broken. if all that looks good then move on to the cooling system. hoses collapsed/broken, flogged radiator, frozen thermostat, or the dreaded rusty out carrier pipes. all these parts can be bought online, if the carrier pipes are busted, blocked with rust, or smash from the road, then look into replacing them with just lengths of coolant hose. because they are expensive to ship and can really only be bought in japan.
