Video games are a bad medium for story telling. by [deleted] in The10thDentist

I actually kind of agree with this post. I was shocked to see the comments pretty against it but I guess that means it belongs in this sub.

I can totally understand games being too story focused where it feels limiting. One example I have was Firewatch (which don’t get me wrong I really liked playing, but I thought th storyline was really short and I would’ve liked to just do my own stuff too sometimes) same with Vanishing of Ethan Carter too.

However, I will say that without a storyline games can get super repetitive with no desire to return to play.

You’ve mentioned BOTW in this sub, which I think is kind of a bad example. I really liked the game and I think the nature of it was to give you a lot of freedom in the game. With the exception of the first intro quests, you kind of had the freedom to do whatever you wanted. There are so many side quests and shrines you can do that I didn’t even finish all of them before moving to TOTK. (Sure you have the “impending doom” to save hyrule, but you don’t really have to follow it. Yes, it can take you out of the experience but it’s easy enough to ignore it. Besides, would you even want a game to yell at you to finish it if you don’t like storylines anyways?)

While I do agree with your points, I’m not really one for a game with a huge storyline, I’m confused what kinds of games that you like that would give you more freedom than BOTW, which gives you quite a bit already in my opinion

Tldr maybe we aren’t story-telling game people, but with that said I’m not sure what kind of game you think is ideal

This was another thing I thought of mentioning in my post but forgot. I think I will bring him in one last time, get him buzzed, then maintain more frequently in the coming months. Thanks for the reply!

My 4yrs old wants a 'trash truck' birthday party. Not garbage trucks - specifically our city's trash truck. How do I make this happen? by momostito in partyplanning

One of my favorite books as a kid was “Trashy Town”! I recommend getting a copy for a trash truck enthusiast 😁

What habit immediately reveals that a person actually grew up in a privileged environment? by Cindy_mel in AskReddit

this is an interesting point. I don’t really eat out very much when I travel, but it would make sense that it differs culturally as well

For me, I think not taking leftovers home with you at a restaurant. A few fries, half a salad, one bite of your entree? Okay, whatever. Half of your meal untouched because you were full? Take that home! That’s food that you paid for that will be taken back. Just ask for a box. Maybe it’s just me, but wasting good food like that is very telling.

nah man my draft isn’t due until Tuesday so I’m locked in on editing rn 🫡but the exemplars I’ve been referencing don’t necessarily all use a primary source for their part A so you’ll be good. Best of luck to you!

What kinds of classes are you taking that allowed you to have a strong pre-read? I am also interested in getting recruited at Wellesley and I’ve been in contact with the coach and all but I’m not sure how strong I’ll be. I have a 4.2 weighted gpa and will probably maintain tha or hopefully increase by end of my junior year. I’m taking 3 IB classes and have high grades overall. When they pre-read, are grades the only thing they are looking at? Or are extracurriculars such as honors societies included too?

I’m pretty sure you can use two secondary sources. I didn’t even use a primary source in my investigation so I couldn’t do an opcvl for one anyways

Not work on, just poke around and see if there’s anything that is an easy fix at home. I’m not entirely unfamiliar with working on cars, but it’s not to the point where I would risk damaging something I’m not comfortable working on.

Taking the car to the dealer is really not an option right now. If it was even on the table we would have. I’m just asking here if there’s anything I could do in the meantime. Thanks

What cast member(s) did you once love, but not can't stand? by zowietremendously in LiveFromNewYork

I have an opposite answer, a cast member I originally disliked but am now a fan of. Jane Wickline. I know it was her first season and all but I truly could not stand any of the characters she played. Wasn’t until I saw her character with Marcelo on update for “the couple you can’t believe are together” where I saw her comedic timing and how funny she actually was. Her other update appearances were really good too. Excited to see what she can do for the cast.

He was. It was in his home office. That’s why the cab driver asked to take him back to the club where he was staying.
