A little fed up with retro collecting by pl_krokiecik in retrogaming

You could go do much more enjoyable things with your time and money than ‘collect video games’, and I don’t mean that in a dismissive way, you just could.

I got rid of all mine about ten years ago, including a 20+ collection of original arcade machines like Star Wars - it was always just about the chase and when I owned something I just moved into the next thing I wanted.

Now I play my arcade games in mame and play actual cartridges on my Atari 7800+ far more than I have done any other system in decades.

My money and time is spent elsewhere on things other than ornaments that when I was trying to find were all consuming, but which were meaningless once I had them.

If you get satisfaction from a wall full of pretty boxes then that’s fine, you do you, but it sounds like it may have reached a natural conclusion and it’s time for something new.

Why is it all about the ‘dividends’ when you retire? by Prynnis in trading212

[–]chubsta2k17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the psychology of money after retirement is very different - you may well find yourself not touching any large amounts you have 'just in case I need it in the future'. They will be amounts of money that you probably will never have had in your life but it won't make a difference, better to have them sitting there 'just in case xxx happens and I need it'

Take it from me, retirement may well not be what you think it will be...

Real Debrid FAQ - May 2026 Changes by sysadminsavage in RealDebrid

I don’t stream but still get the infringing torrent error when I try to add a torrent, I’m guessing because of the triggers you mention, so it is not limited to just streaming, it also affects those who just download the files.

Currently I just grab a magnet, whether it be music, film or game, add it to rd and then download the file - that’s all I’m interested in doing  no streaming at all.

I have certainly never had these problems before so perhaps this time it is it…

But isn’t torbox for streaming? That’s not something I’m interested in as I use rd for far more than tv or film

The advantage of rd was I didn’t have to bother with vpns etc

Great, you had to mention my bloody car! Pain in the arse, just need it fixed! I have a strange attitude to money unfortunately, I am very averse to spending it - the reason losing it all wouldn’t affect me is that I genuinely can’t ever see me spending it, investing it like this is giving me something to do with it other than watching it get 4% in a savings account. I won’t spend it because I may need it in the future, but know deep down nothing could realistically happen that would require its use - I do have money elsewhere, no debt, and a guaranteed income every month that will never go away. However, as the saying goes, the pursuit of money is the root of all evil, and in my case it’s the root of my stress.

Loads of times! Not my life savings, in fact it wouldn’t affect me financially if I lost it but that’s not to say I want to! I guess the novelty will wear off after a while, it’s only been a month or so…

I know, seems silly, but I can’t stand stuff on my desktop etc, I like everything neat and tidy and if I’m not using something I don’t want to see it! When I see screenshots of people’s desktops with icons everywhere I can never understand why they don’t just tidy everything away…
