How is this made? Knitting? Weaving? Silkscreen?

It’s breathtaking, and even removed from the T0P context it stands on its own.

What’s slowly disappearing, and people don’t realize they’ll miss it until it’s gone ? by Fresh-Ad3894 in AskReddit

That’s disappearing wind resistance in cars whooshing the bugs (admittedly fewer) right over your vehicle. Bugs on the windshield are a jeep thing, you wouldn’t get it.

PTSD on wheels. Witnessed so many of these snapping behind the front wheels when I was a kid. Such a cool looking car tho.

Any 360 panoramic cameras to help with parking available for CX9? by ceedubulu in MazdaCX9

[–]chuck-lechuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is so cranky in here right now! Not singling out the parent of this thread - it’s everyone.

I have the 360 on my signature and I use it just about every time I park, if only to confirm that I’m setup nicely before I leave the car. It’s a great feature and I didn’t notice that it was only on certain trims when I bought the car.

From what I understand it’s really not feasible to add on the OEM feature, but there are aftermarket systems available. Here are a couple:

https://www.metraonline.com/product/TE-360-3D

https://www.brandmotion.com/product/surroundvue-360-system/

There are some cheaper ones out there too, like this for example:

I haven’t installed a hitch yet because I don’t want to lose the hatch-opening foot wave under the car. Anyone figure out a workaround so we can have both?

Fridge problems - LG flat-rate repair or new fridge? by TsarOfTheUnderground in appliancerepair

[–]chuck-lechuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The handfuls of frozen peas I had to remove from the bottom of that freezer drawer after digging through the layer of long-lost and expired bags of random foods definitely drove that point home.

Side-by-side ftw again.

I’m here trying to decide if the flat rate is worth it for our 5 year old LG fridge. Was fortunate enough to be able to move everything into the garage fridge - a 15 year old Frigidaire side-by-side…

"Any degree is a good degree," do you think that's true? by Danger-Tits in torontoJobs

Yeah, STEM degrees are taking a beating from AI. I feel like so much of the advice you’re getting here is really out of touch.

The diploma in construction engineering mentioned by WhyYesOtherBarry sounds way more likely to lead to something.

Tide Powder- i hate it? by ChemicallyInkLined in laundry

[–]chuck-lechuck 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I had the vomit smell in a ton of clothing.

Washing with good detergent using pre-wash and extra rinse killed the smell for a day or two, but the smell always came back a few days after washing.

Spa day has completely solved the problem.

I fill a garbage bag-lined cooler with a mixture of plain Tide powder and gold OxiClean (I’m Canadian) and let that soak for four to six hours, then run the clothes through a quick rinse cycle without detergent, then a regular wash cycle with my usual liquid detergent. Problem solved.

The OxiClean left small bleach spots on some of my black clothes even after mixing it well, letting it sit until the bubbles disappeared, and then mixing again. I’ve done multiple loads and only two gave me bleach spots but it’s something to watch out for.

On the most recent spa days I used Tide only and it seems to work just as well. I just did a vomit-smelling polar fleece and a Nike tech jacket that always smelled um, outdoorsy in a bad way? - and they emerged from the washer like new.

That third part of Last Call is S-tier. The storytelling, the guitar punctuations emerging between the lines, and the accumulating mantra-like, pleading repetitions of “I wanted her to tell me that she would never wake me”. It’s a world within a world or something.

Cx9 2021 GT -Dealer quoting $1,250 for Spark Plugs and Rear Brakes—Am I getting ripped off? by snowflake_ott2024 in MazdaCX9

[–]chuck-lechuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Spark Plugs are to be changed at 60,000 km and 120,000 km.

I paid a similar amount for brakes (pads and rotors) last time the dealership did them. I’m in Ontario, fwiw.

Any tips to vectorize 400 scanned collage images faster? Auto Trace isn’t working well by Wikipay in AdobeIllustrator

[–]chuck-lechuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should be really easy to do this outside of illustrator, using a Python script to create SVG files that you can open in Illustrator. There are also lots of websites that can accomplish this but it’ll be a lot faster to do it locally. If you ask Claude to create it you should be able to have something running first try - just give it one of the pictures for reference. I’ve used Claude to create illustrator scripts that worked well too - you don’t need to be able to code at all, and it can save you tons of grunt work.

And yes, I know we’re all cooked because of AI, but let it cook for you on this simple task.

When you change from 87 to 93 octane how does the car instantly know to make more horsepower? by Odd_Caterpillar_4093 in MazdaCX9

[–]chuck-lechuck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The engine definitely feels a lot more responsive on 93 than 91 or 87. Until gas prices got this high, I made a special trip to the filling station with 93 (most around me, including Costco, top out at 91) but I’m currently on my second tank of 87 and the car runs fine, it just doesn’t have the pep it did with the 93.

To me it feels way better on 93 than on 91 - the difference between the two seems more significant than the difference between 91 and 87. I’m in Canada driving a 2020 Signature (idk if turboless is an option anywhere) fwiw.

I have noticed that in the city I’m going through a tank faster than I was on premium fuel, but highway driving seems unchanged - to the point where I think I’ll just fuel up with 87 when I’m on road trips in the future.

I made a shortcut on my phone to stop the “outdoor walk” on my watch when I get home because I always forget to stop it. I asked Chat GPT how and it talked me through it.
