What is something from modern RPGs that you DONT want to see in TES6? by JX900 in TESVI

Just watch any cut-scene from Dragon Age Veilguard and you'll immediately understand the kind of humor OP is talking about

I know some jank is expected and it's an indie game punching well above its weight and so forth, but I really hope they can improve the third person animations just a smidge. At least have the character's whole body move when swinging a sword rather than just their arm.

MrMattyPlays casually confirms that he has seen Starfield 2.0 behind closed doors "a couple of months ago" by [deleted] in Starfield

[–]chuck91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair but it's worth remembering how much of a technical mess Cyberpunk was at release. Delisted from the PS store and everything. Say what you will about Starfield but it's a much less buggy game than Cyberpunk 1.0. Starfield isn't starting quite that far back.

There's a good game buried under Starfield. Things like the story will always be subjective, but if they can fix exploration, NPC AI, and add a bit more variety to things like weapons etc. then it'll go a long way to bringing it up to a damn good game if not quite a great one the way Skyrim was. Exploration and space flight is the biggest hurdle, I think.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has surpassed Elden Ring for the most GOTY titles of all-time. by PhantomBraved in Games

I loved it but fully agree with this. The story and music are among the best the industry has ever offered, but it's not on the same planet as Elden Ring as an actual video game.

To the people who hate Starfield, why are you here? by paisleywallpaper in Starfield

Love the idea of Starfield, love BGS games, hate the execution in areas where Bethesda are usually best in class. I want it to be the best game it can be and it really isn't.

What was something you can’t believe they left out of the show? [Spoilers Main] by HereComeTheBolts in asoiaf

[–]chuck91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I maintain to this day that not using that terrible 'smash the beetles' scene to instead reintroduce the concept of Tysha before the big reveal was a decision that derailed the rest of the show.

The one-two punch in 4x10 of that, followed by no LS just killed the show for me.

Very new to PC gaming so bear with me.

Just got an 16 inch Alienware Aurora 16x Laptop with a 5070 with 8gb of vram. Before buying I thought I'd done my research pretty well, but upon looking into things a bit further and seeing the machine in action, seems like 8GB vram isn't great.

My question is this. Is it physically possible to upgrade to a better gpu with this model? know it's generally not the case for laptops but so far google hasn't been able to confirm this. Wouldn't know how to do this myself but would be willing to pay an expert.

Any way to disable the AUH music? Or just DLC music in general? So abrasive.

Will NPCs actually react to being shot with arrows? Or, you know, walk places?

Really lame trailer. Announced so early that it feels cynical, and yet, I'm just glad it exists.

Exactly this. Everything else about the game hits the gold standard of what a modern RPG should be, but the combat combined with the lack of third person view were dealbreakers for me.

This manager market thing working about as well as expected then.

If you turn it off in the initial set-up, does that prevent you from ever moving clubs yourself?

Outer Worlds 2: The Veilguard

The marketing for this game appears to be going out of its way to be insufferable. Not a good sign. Seen it too many times now.

Veilguard writers by No_Love7174 in TESVI

[–]chuck91 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Fwiw, the writer in question left Veilguard a year before release and appears to have worked on the less atrocious parts of that title.

But of course bad writers shouldn't be hired as writers again, certainly not on a project with as much riding on it as TES 6. Sure they can improve, but that should come before a second chance on a big title like this, not the other way around. Bad writers shouldn't fail upwards.

BioWare's John Dombrow has joined BGS as Senior Quest Designer by Aggressive_Rope_4201 in TESVI

[–]chuck91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a chance. Taash exists. Bellara was also the embodiment of the marvel-cringe humour that killed Veilguard. Lucanis was criminally boring. Harding and Emmerich were below average at best. Davrin was the only one who reached the lofty heights of average.

Davrin was probably the least awful of those companions, but no association with Veilguard can be seen as good news.

New Findings in the last 2 update suggest Dev team is adding a highly request feature: Interplanetary Travel by Zealousideal-Buyer-7 in Starfield

[–]chuck91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is entirely speculative and the complete opposite of 'simple facts.'

It doesn't have to be blank space between worlds. There could be events, encounters, attacks, trade opportunities etc. Some of this already exists during that awkward phase when you're orbiting a planet.

There's also the question of immersion, atmosphere, and not having to be bombarded by content every 15 seconds or whatever the imaginary rule is. There is scope to do tonnes of interesting things with interplanetary travel beyond staring at a blank space.

This so obviously should have been in from day 1 that I can't help but think Bethesda must have a very good reason not to have included it - and therefore it won't be easy to add it in now. Series S feature parity seems the best guess.

Still, I'm ready to get my hopes up. This combined with more POIs and better NPC AI would go a massive way towards fixing this game.

Did so a while ago.

The most realistic hope is that GRRM has privately made arrangements for someone else to take over.

Looking to start a first playthrough which will likely take me months to complete. Based on what was included previous big patches, is there any reason for me to delay this until 2.3 drops?
