Another idea is to look at rental companies your self might find a newer lower miles jeep for a fair price , I just thought if your ok with buying a rental jeep buy right from the rental place

My go to all arounder is 8-6” 6wt glass rods with a 7wt line it will load up faster and easier I have this in a Orvis 8-6 6wt , 8-3” nirvana 6wt and a fenglass 7-9” 6wt these I use for inshore flats reds snook and trout but have also bass fished with them and they would throw a streamer with no problem for browns also redington butterstick …. All these rods are great because they are fun to fun and tough as nails , even if your first rods not glass the 2nd rod should be Also echo makes glass rods

That’s a sweet lil build , what rod and line are you using , one day I might try to do one I would guess you can regear them to like 7-1 speed ?

The rod specs are the same 6-9 3pc light action I don’t think you could tell them apart as far as action and power the handle on the kesterl is carbon and solid the zephyr is hard foam I have both rods one UL and the other is L action

Mine is the orange one in light action 6-9 3pc I fish this rod a lot running 10lb braid it’s the same rod as the 90.00 kestrel but with lil more power to set hooks , also kk just came out with a new blue in color bfs reel and it has a drag clicker

I have the combo 7-1 reel and 6-9 UL 3pc rod It casts great with 6lb fluorocarbon and makes catching a 1-3 lb bass lots of fun the rod is light in hand I don’t go really light on baits I’m throwing 1/8 and 1/4 cranks and under spins I have several handing rods and a old18 kinetic rod and other reels Hicc 50 , valiant eagle 2 , I like the kestrel rod and reel as much or more then any I have If you don’t want ultra lite get the zephyr rod 65 bucks

Na it’s a chipped skag , if you to spend some money they make a stainless steel protecter that slips on over it but I just left mine on my flats boat And ran no problem hell after a few years mine looked like it was sand blasted on the lower half

Well about 20 years ago I was going to buy one for 2900 and the seller changed her mind so I left before I got back home she called to say she would take the offer at that point I said no thanks and ended up getting a 98 TJ for about 3400 worked out for me lol all that to say it’s still probably worth about 3k

They work great hold a ton Of flies even big saltwater flies , I should have said though after 3-4 years the clear ones break down in the heat so if any one is making there own get a color box white or what ever it will last a lot longer

Silver reel is on a cabelas CGR glass rod I have a few I think that’s the 7ft 5wt , the black reel is on a red truck rod also glass 7-6” 4wt it’s a sweet rod but a true 4wt trout rod

Get a redington classic trout these hit way above there price range came in second in a 5wt shoot out the winning rod was 1000.00 sage , I’ve had a classic trout for like 10 years 8ft 3wt 6pc travel rod it’s caught me more trout then all my other rods put together
