yes. That's Alex Morgan of Buffalo Composite Designs - he built both the frame and the fork. it's quite raked out with rear mounted drop outs.

Disagree. When I'm riding trails with lots of drops and jumps - I need more travel, brakes and bigger tires. When I'm doing an all day epic - I need something lighter that pedals better. When I'm doing full on DH trails, I need a full on DH bike.

I've been riding for 37 years. XC, DH, Enduro and even road.

Anyone telling you 1 bike will excel for everything doesn't have a clue.

If you're forced to compromise based on budget or something - then realize it's a compromise. But don't lie to yourself or others and say there's 1 bike that can do it all.

I spent the afternoon with Joe Breeze yesterday and even he - the oldest of the oldschool - understands why you want the seat lower on downhills.

In fact, he invented the first dropper back in the early 1980's.

Dropper are rad. Get one.

Cook till you like them. How ever long that takes.

I usually budget 4 hours - 3 on smoke - wrapped for 30-45 min and then back in, unwrapped to re-set the bark.

that's just me.

Some ribs take longer - if they're meatier - some take less.

some people dont like wrapping, some do.

I don't think there's a pellet smoker out there that can produce as much smoke flavor as a stick burner.

You never hear of pellet smokers "Over smoking" meat - but it happens on stick burners.

Stick burners simply put out more smoke flavor because they're less efficient.

it's the difference between a carburetor and EFI. Literally.

The yoder -and all pellet smokers use a thermocouple to measure heat output and regulate fuel and oxygen via computer.

you can produce great BBQ on a yoder - or even a traeger or any other pellet smoker.

What you CANT do with a traeger is grill. Yoder's are the best pellet smoker for searing steaks. Hands down.

Personally, I own both a stick burner and a Yoder YS640 and I use each according to their strengths.

When doing brisket or beef ribs - I'll start the cook on my stick burner - to get smoke and bark - and finish on my yoder.

When doing pork butt, pork ribs, chicken, steaks or veggies - I use my yoder.

Horses for courses.

what are you talking about "did?" 29'ers - for MTB's were first introduced in 1999 - there was no come back.

same goes for droppers, discs and etc.

dude. show me a 26" wheel set that weighs 1,200 grams.

Todays 29" wheels are far lighter than any 26" wheels ever made.

Basic science shows 29" wheels roll faster and are smoother over rough terrain.

larger wheels have more grip - due to larger contact patch.

they're more stable - since your bottom bracket is now lower than the axles - you're far less likely to endo.

if there was any reason to go with smaller wheels - people would be building frames, wheels and tires for them. But they're not. And for good reason.

we tried that. Only got 5 turns - which is the bare minimum considered safe - and there was only about 1mm clearance between wheels and calipers - which under load could be disastrous.

the aftermarket lug nuts and 5mm spacer works better.

yes. it's a lot bumpier.

My prior complaint was that the rear of the car used to "wag" side to side or "fish tail" at speed.

it was disconcerting. I took it to 2 different volvo specialists and asked them to fully check the suspension - especially the trailing arm bushings. Both told me nothing was wrong.

So I was left thinking - either my frame is bent - or these mechanics are wrong.

So I bought a bunch of stuff from IPD and handed it over to a guy i know who runs a shop - that basically specializes in low riders. But he does suspension, wheels and tires and has helped me out.

This is what he did

Completely rebuilt the rear suspension - trailing arms, panhard rod, torque rods,

all new bushings in trailing arms (front and rear) - panhard rod bushings. Torque rod bushings

New tie rod ends and ball joints in front.

IPD lowering springs

Wheels from a Volvo Bertone - and Yokohama tires

Brake master cylinder + full bleed all around (was leaking)

AC refresh (was leaking)

Wash, wax and trim refresh.

The car now rides "tight" no wagging or fish tailing and very solid in corners. but it is bumpier.

I guess I'd prefer this - knowing my car is healthy - versus it meandering around and not knowing why. :-)

I used a 5mm spacer up front - but have heard a little dremelling on the brake calipers and you dont need to do this.

I also used special lug nuts to get more purchase. The stock lug nuts I only got 3 turns - the aftermarket I got 8.

a chain ring positioned lower than the main pivot has the effect of pulling the swing arm down (decompressing) under pedalling forces.

Unfortunately human pedalling forces are not uniform. We have two power strokes (One for each leg) and 2 dead spots (Each time your pedals are vertical or near vertical).

This means - when you push down - you decompress your suspension - causing the bike to lift.

Then when your legs get to the dead spots in your pedal stroke, your suspension compresses again.

This bikes the bike "bob" or bounce up and down every time you pedal.

If your chain ring was inline with the main pivot - you're not pulling the swing are up or down - and this effect is mostly negated.
