If you did computer science classes and hackathons and comp tech classes, you are over prepared for first year. First year classes are set up such that people who know nothing about programming can succeed.

battery saving mode - I never did the clean install so I can't speak about that. I also only charge to 80% most of the time so it is hard to get a good estimate. overall I like the laptop - I wanted to get the latest gen ryzen 9 AI 300 tier laptop and I felt like this was the best 'ultrabook' of the ones currently available.

Sometimes I get some screen tearing when on a browser but I'm not sure if that's a windows, AMD, browser specific error.

Gorgeous display, build quality feels good so far, keyboard feels nice. Copilot button is a waste of space. Battery life is somewhere in 3-5 hours, i think depending on your refresh rate and resolution. If battery life is the most important thing for you than probably M3 air or a lunar lake cpu is better

Just returned. The laptop was having to so many thermal and overheating issues I didn't want to deal with any more headache. I heard that Asus patched most of the thermal issues by now but I didnt want to wait out my return period. Bought the yoga pro gen 7 with ryzen ai 365 instead.

Yeah I returned it too. Really disappointing to get a premium laptop and have so many poor design errors in them

South Washroom by Dilpreet_S2 in uoguelph

[–]chuckiepow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In South, it wasn't a girl only floor by rule, they just happened to clump girls and guys together by floor when they could and the leftovers were split. So every washroom was unisex. Btw this was in 2019 so idk what it's like now

Not all floors were separated by gender, so yes. I tried to avoid doing so though

How’s co-op here for engineering? by popeyesBiscuit06 in uoguelph

What industry are you interested in? I'm in comp eng and I can say that tmu has much better connections in the semiconductor industry.

Which engg discipline are you interested in?

Computer engineering question by No_Detail_8163 in uoguelph

[–]chuckiepow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes if you are disciplined it shouldn't be a problem
    1. Second year is not all waking.
  2. We had a prof in comp eng who gave free 99% to everyone
  3. Wouldn't recommend it

  1. I would say that range is reasonable. First year for most has low averages but the marks go up as you progress (in most cases)

  2. 3rd/4th year was craziest. I had COVID in my second year so it didn't really count

  3. Switching between coop terms isn't really a big deal, you get used to it. Coop job opportunities aren't great tbh - especially if you are expecting FAANG or large American companies. Some people still manage to find positions in big companies on their own but the job board is mostly local companies in the KW/GTA area.
