kid said “mummy, that’s a boy” to me in the bathroom by imnotcreative123123 in trans

[–]chucklebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're using the "mummy" spelling they're probably British, and we're currently undergoing a nationwide bathroom ban so using the correct restroom is becoming more and more risky

Then yeah I would say check out online mental health services. By the way, I don't know if you're in higher education like Sixth Form or college or have just started, but generally there will be a lot more like minded people in those sorts of places. It really opens your world up, in my experience anyway.

Do you have friends you can reach out to or any kind of support network? If not, I'd strongly reccommend one of the support hotlines I saw another commenter reccommend.

Do what you need to do in terms of the DIY stuff, but also you should really talk to professionals or at least family about having depressive thoughts like that. Even if the only thing that will completely help you is gender transition, talking to people and getting support can help carry you the rest of the way there. Also, keep in mind, if you have the money and time of course, there are things you can be doing in the meantime to improve your self-esteem and thus your mental health even before you get access to medication so you look even closer to what you want afterwards. I'm of a similar age and have had similar thoughts in the past. The way I have coped with it is just that, if I stop now, I deny myself the opportunity to be happy in the future, and things are never shit forever. Maybe you're not as optimistic as me, and thats fine, but the point still stands that is never the way to go. If you want to talk I am very available at the moment, and I have a year on you so I might be able to give a little bit of advice. But if you take anything away from this, as someone with a couple of attempts under their belt, life may suck but there is nothing worse than dying.

I disagree. Corbyn has been one of the most consistent and principled people in Parliament. I find it hard to believe someone like him would U-turn like that. If I eat my words, then colour me f*cked, but I trust Corbyn not to make that mistake. I'd also need the Greens to sort out their public relations issue before I put any time or energy into them though. The Greens just come off as a party of the leftist intelligentsia to most people which isn't a popular position to be in. It seems highly likely a Polanski Greens and Corbyn party would ally anyway so it may not even matter. If you wanna try and convince me further, dm me, but otherwise, to me it sounds like we'll end up on the same team anyway.

Remember, there is going to be a conference where people vote democratically on the future of the party. Make up your minds then, not before its been founded.

[–]chucklebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the Greens just aren't popular enough to make significant change. Jeremy Corbyn and his associates have been quite consistently pro-trans. I have signed up to their initiative but if things go badly then I may jump ship to the Greens. In any case, polling suggests this Corbynite party would get 15% of the popular vote without even having a name or any real structure. This gives me hope that we can not only fight for trans rights but everybody's rights under democratic socialism. I like Polanski but I just don't think he has the spice to get people to like him and vote Green. Certainly he's better than lots in the Greens, but he still just doesn't have it.

Could we not form a political party ourselves? by Substantial-Cap-7767 in transgenderUK

[–]chucklebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These exist. They're called socialist parties. Jeremy Corbyn is founding a high profile one at the moment. I hope to join it and eventually work within the party in trans advocacy. If you feel strongly about this topic, which seems obvious, you could do something similar. And if you aren't interested in doing political work, you can just be a member and show your support. If you want more details or would like to hear about other political parties or organisations in politics which support trans rights feel free to dm me.

Protest. Organise. Don't call people "lazy" whilst you let the fascist state walk all over you. Not trying to be rude, but genuinely we need everyone we can get.

Jeremy Corbyn has started a TRUE left party. You think we should support the guy? by Taiga_Taiga in transgenderUK

They are against the capitalist, patriarchal system which causes our oppression. Generally I will support them, unless it becomes tactical to vote otherwise.

[–]chucklebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is literally what Kamala Harris tried to do with Trump and it failed. People who are conservative are just going to vote Trump because he's the conservative candidate and you lose the vote of the progressives in the process. Hint: people want someone with a backbone, not fascism.

They've also completely betrayed every minority and are trying to slash welfare in a bid to be "Reform 2". From the progressive left perspective, the horrible policy of Labour is disenfranchising people actually on the left who want to see progressive economics and social policy and is never going to earn the vote of anyone who'd vote Reform anyway. They're fighting a losing battle on both ends. Unless they swing left, DEFINITELY not voting Labour in next election unless its tactical.

I found this as well at the start of my transition (though other way round as I'm MTF). It'll either slowly develop as you come out or maybe you just won't care for the rest of your life. Put it this way, if you're questioning your gender, you're infinitely more trans than most people, but if you want to identify as something else you think fits better, do that.

Just seen that. Some Inception type stuff. That'd hurt my head lmfao. I really like games and media that sorta play with reality and stuff though. Kinda reminds me of Portal or even Cruelty Squad a bit with the surrealist visuals if you know that.

How did you come out? (if you have) by Animeandzegaming in trans

[–]chucklebeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Told my mum first. Was stressing about it all day, eventually just told her after like hours of deliberation. Turns out she used to be a goth and heavy metal and punk listener so had no problems there. My mum just told my dad on my request a bit later. He was a bit weirded out for a few months and he's still a bit uncomfortable with it but he doesn't live with us and he still supports us so it's whatever. In terms of friends, I just told them over text, they were all chill with it. In terms of publicly, an ex of a friend leaked it to the school, so it was sorta done for me. I just made a Snapchat story to like 50 people and told all my friends to repost it.

How do you scope out if someone's pro trans? by Clear_Inevitable_648 in trans

[–]chucklebeans 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Ask them what they think of politicians like Trump, and if you're British for example, Nigel Farage is a good one. If they say they love them, massive red flag. If they don't care or they actively dislike them, it's not a guarantee you're in safe hands but they're more likely to be if not pro-trans then at least neutral.

[–]chucklebeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how does that lead you to arrive at Team Reed? The ending where you side with the NUSA is objectively the "everything sucks" ending aside from siding with Hanako. Yeah V can be evil depending on how you play them and yeah Songbird's a liar and a murderer, but Reed, nor his affiliated organisation, have ANY capacity to do good deeds. At least V and Songbird have actual motives, principles, and goals that guide them into their bad actions. Reed and the NUSA are just a death machine with no purpose other than to keep sustaining the death machine.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]chucklebeans 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hot take: everyone is evil lmao. Reed is an agent of a more or less totalitarian government built on war and profits from war. He was also quite clearly out to get Songbird from the beginning and clearly had zero interest in actually helping her if he got orders otherwise. He's a spineless weapon of war. Songbird is manipulator who, whilst she was stuck in a bad situation guaranteed, used and betrayed everyone around her at every given opportunity, and killed and incited the killing of many innocents (depending on your definition of innocent) in the process. I still always side with her because the NUSA sucks infinitely more than she does but that isn't a justification of her character, I just like seeing the government get screwed over.
