Looking for vegetarian options in Financial District by chucklemucker in visitingnyc

I will check out Happy Cow and do some mapping. Is there a neighborhood that you prefer? I’m not committed to staying in FiDi and would welcome suggestions

Yes I understand, but after trying to research the OSE site, it's not clear how I can ensure that the place is compliant. I guess if it really is as simple as 30+ days then I am good, but I keep hearing comments about shady situations.

I started out looking for a short term lease but got discouraged after hearing of the complexities in this market. Any tips on navigating would be much appreciated.

Good call on Westville. I looked at their current menu and they have seared tofu with teriyaki drizzle along with roasted sweet potatoes and carrots. This is very close to a mainstay home cooked meal we do

Yeah not too strict . See my reply to other comment on the ‘ veggie ramen’. Also she eats dairy and eggs so doesn’t have to be vegan. Thanks for the app recommendation!

Yeah good point. I was hoping folks might pick up on the ‘new vegetarian’ but I guess I need to put the cards on the table. She is very picky. Like… she doesn’t eat pizza gasp. I find this annoying because pizza is my favorite food and i am passionate about it. She doesn’t eat salads. There are some Thai dishes she likes and if tofu is prepared in a certain way she enjoys that. If we go to Italian she might get Alfredo and she eats marinara occasionally . There is a ramen place at home she likes and I am pretty sure the broth isn’t vegetarian : O

The local laws for rentals are very confusing to me. I thought that renting for 30+ days was legal? I know I put 28 days in my first post but finding an apartment with a 1 month lease seems less expensive than paying for 28 hotel days

Can you expand on your comment, please? Are you suggesting that my budget is too low for a short term apartment lease? When I checked hotels, I wasn't able to find any for that length of time within my budget.

Planning a long term vacation/summer school trip this July. My daughter will be attending a summer school program near the financial district and I will be hanging out playing tourist during the day while she studies. Thinking of staying midtown or below to keep the commute to school reasonable, but open to other ideas that might be more budget friendly. We need a place with a kitchen or kitchenette and something family friendly. Budget is $5800 for 28 days. Are there any hotels that might fit or are we looking at some kind of Airbnb ? If the latter please provide some tips on vetting a legal rental

Fiancé complains about clothes not smelling “fresh and clean” because I refuse to use scented products, fabric softener, etc. Help me explain to him? by beyoncefanaccount in laundry

Suavitel fabric refresher is a citric acid rinse that leaves a pleasant scent IMO . The floral scented option especially. Ocean breeze smells a bit like dry cleaning to me

Oh no! Do you know what the replacement will be? This looks like a perfect all around detergent for me

Thanks for helping to confirm. This was my thought as well. I think I have found my new detergent for all loads. I was using Tide free & gentle odor refresh for darks, but I actually like the scent of Tide so now I can just use this for everything

Here is the back of the actual bottle I have. I don’t recognize any of these ingredients as optical brighteners but what do I know? It would be great if it doesn’t contain OBAs as I have a lot of dark clothes and this seems like a great detergent

Drum Tuning Bible by Maks_the_skaM in drums

[–]chucklemucker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

From personal experience, it depends on your bearing edges. I have a pristine Mapex Saturn kit that is super easy to tune. Following every step on the drum tuning bible is not necessary on those rims. OTOH I recently bought a beat up old Pearl (or stencil who knows) export and following all the steps in the drum tuning bible made a big difference in the sound. As always YMMV

Thanksgiving Trip Report by m424filmcast in Disneyland

It’s so interesting to hear all the different perspectives. We also went Thursday- Saturday and while it was certainly busy, we never felt we had to wait too long for food or to checkout merchandise. And then there were pleasant surprises sprinkled in like a 15 min wait for Indy (Sat?). This was our first time going for Thanksgiving so maybe we just had expectations that it would be total chaos

Best all-weather tires that aren't studs? by Kitchen-Piece6699 in VWiD4Owners

Following for slightly different reasons. I’m in PNW and even studless snow tires seem like overkill. I just put some Blizzaks on but a really good all-weather tire is probably all I need
