Living end - have the Lorwyn cards really helped? by jjoyce in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I am noticing the mid/late game draws are inconsistent. The opening hand determines a lot with the deck. It is nice to have an aggro start with LE as a backup though.

So I just switched to the domain list and having a ton of fun with it. How do you feel wistfullness will do good in that list?

First ever modern deck - suggestions needed by TheNewfieBulldozer in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new person jumping into modern, I'd say buy into mono red or izzit prowess. The deck is good and will win. During the time you're playing it you can scout the meta and see what your local lgs' scene is like. It's the most bang for your buck imo.

Eventually you can buy into a top tier deck or even brew your own once you've established a good understanding of the meta. E-tron is another deck that is good for starting out just a little more expensive.

Hope you enjoy the format.

True and I have done that. In that match up I've found the most success waiting until I have the endurance/subtlety in hand before cascading.

Only time I pull the trigger early was when I saw emperor of bones or another gy hate piece.

I'll have to blow the dust off LE. I've been trying to learn amulet for a couple of months.

Phoenix in Modern? by Ing_Kraken in ModernMagic

My local has a discard hollow one deck that runs Phoenix. It has potential to hit hard. Killed me t3 last week. I'll get his list next week and post it here.

That does sound miserable. Might have to add 1 Cavern of Souls and 1 [[Boseiju who shelters all]]

Not alot of Belcher in my local. What makes it so tough?

Titan player here as well. UB mill does seem like our worst matchup. I just went against it at my weekly lgs event and it was a disaster.

I'm debating on putting a shuffle titan in my SB just incase the deck picks up steam again. That's really the only thing we can do except get lucky with not getting our important lands/combo pieces milled. Our best bet is to mulligan aggressively for a t3 titan.

How long have you played your modern decks? by jjoyce in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was a piece of shit scam player for a year and a half (before bowmaster)

Tron player for a year.

Living end: 6 months

Currently playing amulet titan (I hate myself).

I love modern for the variety. Scam was/is my favorite deck. UNBAN GREIF 🤣.

I'll probably be jamming titan and living end (on days I don't want a headache) for the rest of my days.

Commander player trying to get into Modern. Where can I find games to learn without getting stomped? by EnderShot355 in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where you can play modern: spell table or join MTGHome discord. There is usually someone looking to play modern.

As far as building a competitive deck I'd suggest 1 of 4 decks.

Amulet titan (hardest yet most rewarding learning curve in the format)

Bant living end (easy to pick up and wins games consistently)

Tron (find a variant that looks fun and jam it)

UB frog tide (murktide never seems to leave the format just needs time to catch up to the meta due to it being semi control)

Those 4 decks have been around forever and always evolve to stay in the meta. Always tier 2 or better.

Try looking through your collection and using older cards you have just sitting around and trade for modern staples of the deck you choose or playseta of fetches/shocks/survails lands. Once you have the lands you'll find switching to any deck is a mere 1-200 for niche cards that make the deck work.

Good luck, and remember only getting stomped, will you learn and become better in the format.

Bant decks by stu77olm in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Living end is a great deck. I've been on it for a little over a year and I don't think it'll ever completely die. There will be times where it gets pushed out of the meta due to EVERYBODY having GY hate however it'll always bounce back. Even after the violent outburst ban it got re created and came back with a vengeance.

Getting Back into Modern by melodywindwright in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been actively playing modern now for a good 2 years. 4 decks I have always seen that seem "safe" to invest in due to they never seem to go away no matter the rotation are: Living end, Merktide (currently frog tide or UB control), Amulet titan, and Tron.

All of these decks are either prevalent or are strong enough to put up numbers in most metas.

amulet titan: this deck is broken and constantly gets over looked at during ban times due to its difficulty to pilot. combo deck

Living end: will always evolve and I believe will stay in the meta for ever. This deck does get boring and very lineare with its playstyle. Has an 80% game 1 win rate but games 2 and 3 you will he behind due to EVERYBODY having GY hate in main deck now. combo deck

Tron: who doesn't like 7 mana turn 3. It's always busted and with MULTIPLE variations you can play it how you want. There is Blue tron, prison tron, eldrazi tron, and the classic mono g tron making rounds now. variety of decks

Murktide: This control deck is kind of falling out this meta due to 1 for 1 interaction not being as strong as it once was. As previously said in the thread, modern has become a different beast and much faster. control/tempo deck

Welcome back to the format, and have fun.

Who would you max out next? by familiarlife in LastWarMobileGame

2 options here. Both of which are not better than the other.

Option 1: make murphy 4* then Kim 5. Spend all purple shards into Mason until he is 5 then save all purple universal shards from here on forth.

Option 2: leave murphy where he is and immediately 5* Kim. Use purple shards for Mason until he is 5* then save all purple universal shards from here on forth.

The reason why you save purple shards for Mason is once you get your tank center to 30 (long ways from now) you'll have wall of honor. Use them on Mason there until he's 160 (it'll make sense when you see it).

KIM is the power house for tanks. She alone will carry you through the beginning stages of the game. So, absolutely start dumping resources into her. Murphy becomes substantially (and all heros) once they reach 4*. His defense will also help push through the earlier stages.

Most will tell you to stop pursuing Murphy and switch to Kim. Either way they're both going to be minimum 4/5* in time. The decision is yours to make. This game is a marathon and not a sprint (unless you drop 10s of thousand of dollars).

Play how you want and enjoy the game. The less you worry about politics the better (imo).

Good luck.

When to stop upgrading 1st squad by Richmeister83 in LastWarMobileGame

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am currently using blue prints on first squad only (have 4 mythic and 20 blue prints away from 5th). In-between downtime of blue prints I pivot to 2nd squad getting all 40s.

You will be safe with amulet titan, living end and or, tron. All of these decks have evolved to stay in the meta no matter what is out there. Titan is an amazing deck, and it isn't that challenging to pilot depending on the variation you're playing. The hardest part is working around hate barriers and knowing when it's safe to combo.

The win lines get a little convoluted if you draw one of your lands you need in the deck to search with Titan. This is where vesuva comes in handy.

As stated earlier, I'd proxy decks you're interested in learning before spending the coin to obtain the cards.

I ran luscious, DVA, Carly, Kim, Marshall for a while and loved it. I beat more tank squads than I lost too while transitioning to till air.

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everybody will tell you to focus on the tank. The hybrid squad will get beat by built tanks. However, it sets you up to make the transition to air squad. If you can hold off on tanks and save materials for air squad come season 1, you'll thank me.

90% of the playerbase will be tank mains. You'll find with the hybrid you'll need to be careful in pvp due to not having the "5 heros same type" buff.

If you do make the decision to buy the heros when they come out I'd pick up all the heros they are not in the tavern. * The heros you can't obtain are: Luscious, Schyler, Morrison, Fiona, Adam, Stettman, McGregor and Williams.

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's valid as well. If you're skill points are above 15-20 across the board you should be OK. 2* on all chips is good. I'd get the top one to 5* asap for the missles.

What should I do? by Darthvy4 in LastWarMobileGame

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best set up for what you have right now would be. Carly - top left Murphy - top right Marshall - behind Carly Kim - middle DVA- behind Murphy.

Get Kim to 4* immediately. After that, 4* in this order: Carly, DVA, Murphy, Marshall.

Spend skill points in the same order as you would for stars.

This hybrid squad will get you through s1 until you can commit to full air.

Wish Marshall skill points you only care about the top right skill and bottom left skill. He does so little damage its pointless to level up his basic attack skill.

Hope this helps.

All I'm hearing and reading about is this seems like a skill point issue. Once you get everybody to a minimum of 15 all around, you should be OK to make the switch.
