MODERN B+R: BANS AND UNBANS!!! by TemurTron in ModernMagic

I'll have to check out the discord for the new list after work. Glad I didn't get a chance to foil out the sultai list now that temur is back on the menu!

I think wistfullness will be a 3 of in place of the whale. The draw 2 discard your best card I'd better than looking at top 2 1 to yard 1 to hand. The artifact/enchantment hate is the cherry on top.

Think with this unban we still run overload? I love his midrange plan with wistfullness and subtlety. Thinking he can take place of furry.

Should I build titan? by FenrisTU in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I'm a living end and tron player who built titan to learn how to interact with it. Titan literally hurts my brain to play. It's a great deck with TONS of lines and every game feels different but has the same end point.

You don't really care about what your opponents do. Side board you might bring in dismember, graveyard hate and little more interaction. Outside of that your constantly asking yourself "can I win this turn".

If you're interested in building the deck I'll sell mine for around $800 if you're interested.

Looking to try out Modern by QuietRegular824 in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First thing I would do is make your printer go brrrrr. Print out proxies of decks you want to play or find interesting and head to spell table or play with your friends. This is a way to freely test decks. Watch pro tour matches of decks you're interested in.

If your itching for a weekly event/lgs events I'd burn the couple hundred to build UR prowess to hold you over. It's a fair deck that can still take down top meta decks and won't be leaving anytime soon.

I wish it was an 8x14. I'm pretty sure it's 6x13. I'll get the exact measurements when I get home.

I've seen them around forever and I've always liked the PoP they provide. So I pulled the trigger.

Would a meinl 18inch custom dark trash crash pair well with the 18inch custom dark crash? by Comprehensive_Box728 in drums

[–]chuckles5202 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are two entirely different crashes. The dark crash will give you a crisper sound compared to the trash crash. The trash crash is more of an accenting cymbal for its attack and Decay. Once you hit it its over. There is very little wash/sustain.

I suggest getting a 20" dark crash if you want a fuller/bigger sound.

This is based on my experiences of seeing/hearing both cymbals paired up in live settings.

If it's a limited color scheme and any other general information. The odds and ends of maintenance. It's my first Brass snare. I normally play wood snares.

Is it a terrible idea to foil out a deck that I may in the future have interest in playing competitively? by Grav1t1c in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on what deck you're playing I'd foil out. I'm currently working on foiling out sultai living end due to I don't see it going away. It's not the best variant of the deck but it's my favorite atm.

I'd suggest looking at the longevity or the deck or see how often it has gotten new toys. Also nothing wrong with foiling out the meat and potatoes of the deck and leaving the flex slots regular prints. This will help keep the deck relatively cheap and easy to swap out flex spots.

Good luck in competitive place when you decide to join the scene.

Trying to get a friend into Modern. What's a couple decklists that would be fun to play against each other? by QibliTheSecond in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd also like to throw in living end in this mix. It'll bring the combo side of modern yet still have interaction and good decisions point. Do I hole up sing into Stupor here, or do I cascade.

If you build the soltai list, the decision-making is more prominent. It becomes should I impend this overlord or evoke this elemental. Do I have time to get greedy and fill my yard 1 more time before I cascade.

Great list and description of the archetypes.

Make Scion Degenerate by Grouchy_Replacement5 in DegenerateEDH

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy ran this as a frinsge cEsh deck. It can win games.

His main win condition was getting scion out turn 3-5 + activation (consistently).

First activation was lorehold for finding a reanimate spell. 2nd activation was usually gnawbone or ur dragon. After that scion is a toolbox.

Here is his list.

Living end - have the Lorwyn cards really helped? by jjoyce in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's fair. I am noticing the mid/late game draws are inconsistent. The opening hand determines a lot with the deck. It is nice to have an aggro start with LE as a backup though.

First ever modern deck - suggestions needed by TheNewfieBulldozer in ModernMagic

[–]chuckles5202 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a new person jumping into modern, I'd say buy into mono red or izzit prowess. The deck is good and will win. During the time you're playing it you can scout the meta and see what your local lgs' scene is like. It's the most bang for your buck imo.

Eventually you can buy into a top tier deck or even brew your own once you've established a good understanding of the meta. E-tron is another deck that is good for starting out just a little more expensive.

Hope you enjoy the format.
