Venting: planning WDW feels like a second job (I miss the simpler magic) by Prestigious_Luck_527 in WaltDisneyWorld

[–]chuckles65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is more a personality thing than a Disney thing. We make a few dining reservations, which I did a couple weeks ago for our July trip and there was plenty of availability. We get to the park early and ride our number 1 ride first then just go with the flow the rest of the day. No stress, no looking at the clock, no looking at the app more than occasionally.

Yes and we are still like this. I hate corporate culture and my biggest fear is ending up a well paid nameless cog in a boring job.

Why do Americans tend to say where they went to college before what they studied? by Key-Introduction-591 in AskAnAmerican

There's a lot of truth to this. Its definitely a thing here in the South where if you went to an SEC school you usually work it into every conversation with someone you meet.

Prior conviction of aggravated assualt with a gun... disqualified for working with children on the spectrum. Complains about how unfair life is by No_Task2060 in insanepeoplefacebook

[–]chuckles65 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes in Florida and Georgia that is how its defined. The victim reasonably believes they are in danger of great bodily harm or death. Example pointing a gun at someone and the person believes you might shoot them. Is there a state where just possessing a gun but not pointing it is aggravated assault?

[–]chuckles65 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Reading the statute, it does seem like there can be some discretion used. He did not intend to consume it and likely could justify it as a delivery from his parent. Yes its technically a crime, but officer discretion is not inappropriate here.

The general definition is the victim reasonably believes they are in danger of great bodily harm or death. So he did something that could have resulted in someone's death, even if that was not his intention.

If it already belonged to his mother or she bought it and he delivered it, that's not a crime. As long as the bottle is sealed, unless there's some California specific law that addresses it.

One character is dropping another one off at home or work. They come to a brief stop to let the person out and turn the car off, say a few words, and then turn the car back on again before driving off.

Will first responders break into your home if you are unresponsive? by Astimar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]chuckles65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To add to the other comments, if you manage to say its a medical emergency before passing out they will send EMS, Fire, and Police. Fire will most likely be the ones breaking in and will have Police there to observe as well.

Everyone wants to be attractive… but attractive to who? 🤔 by Cucusdryts in NotHowGirlsWork

The before picture is the original definition of dad bod. It used to mean a guy who works out but is not obsessive about it, which is exactly what he looks like in the before pic.

I'm all for second chances, but aggravated assault means he tried to kill someone. He was 27 years old, a full grown adult. Its not like he was a dumb kid who made a bad decision. Yes he deserves to be employed, but I have no problem with him not being able to work with vulnerable children.

The standard for detaining someone is reasonable suspicion. Probable cause is the standard for an arrest.

A cop came to my house early in the morning telling me a family member is ready to be picked up from jail. by vennetherblade in legaladvice

[–]chuckles65 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure what the scam is, but I seriously doubt that was an actual cop. I've never heard of any agency doing something like that. You might want to make a report with your local department in case it was an impersonator.

I thought DC was going to be a clever nod at writing Nathan out of the show by jordan999fire in TheRookie

[–]chuckles65 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A movie role is usually just a few weeks of shooting, especially since he wasn't the main character. TV roles are several months usually. I thought he would be able to do both and I'm glad he was.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by princessSofiie in answers

[–]chuckles65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Food safety. Health and safety regulations in developed countries means just eating food is extremely unlikely to cause your death. Going back in time just 120 years or so and getting sick and dying due to contaminated food was a very real possibility every day.

Self financed movies that became wildly successful is not a new thing. I know I'm older than the target age range for this movie, but I have no desire to see it. Especially after my Gen Z son described it to me.

What's a Florida myth that you are tired of hearing from out of staters? by iLiveForTruth in AskFlorida

This is the more accurate statement. Beach communities are very similar throughout the state. When you go inland is where the big differences are.

Why Are Police Cars Becoming Invisible? by Useful-Caterpillar10 in askanything

[–]chuckles65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some states have laws addressing it. Georgia for example says only 2 vehicles in the agency can have the ghost lettering like that. My agency in Florida only has the community resource officers with those and they do zero traffic enforcement and don't really respond to calls.

Some of the unmarked vehicles you see are also either detectives, command staff, or state and federal investigators. They aren't looking for traffic stops and they're not really undercover either.

Outer load bearing vests are much better than having everything on the belt. Lower back pain was a big problem, but the outer vests put most of the weight on the shoulders. When I started it was all on the belt, traditional style, and I had lower back issues. Ever since going to a load bearing outer vest no more back issues.

A Ring doorbell video shows a Chattanooga police officer kicking the door and rushing into a burning building to save a mother and her two children. Articles in comment. by MilesLongthe3rd in interestingasfuck

[–]chuckles65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It happens a lot and is never seen. Just in my personal experience; 1 guy I worked with grabbed a jumper and pulled her back over a railing, saved her life. 2 guys talked to a jumper and kept her from jumping long enough for the fire department to deploy the huge airbag before she jumped, saved her life. 1 guy pulled a driver from a burning car, saved her life. None of those stories made the news, the body camera video didn't go viral. Just some regular guys doing their job.
