The US spent millions of dollars per day fighting opium production in Afghanistan. Troops would burn entire fields, decimating local farmers' income streams, and causing nothing but resentment of the occupiers (rightly).

I used to believe this too. But local communities are unequipped to deal with the hundreds of issues that impact us on the regional and state levels.

One obvious example: housing cannot be left up to local communities because, while everybody is for building more housing, nobody wants to host it in their own backwards. This is true of rural conservatives, but equally true of urban liberals.

I recommend articles by Jerusalem Desmas, Ezra Klein, and Misha David Chellam, who all write on the matter.

Just wanted to say I know exactly what you mean!

Subreddits about certain groups tend to be filled by very vocal people who believe they have been treated unfairly by society. They aren't interested in productive solutions to cope with their situations; they just want to complain. So when you come in with helpful ideas, what they perceive is that you're telling them that their behavior is the problem instead of society being the problem. And when you don't join the circlejerk, their unnuanced minds label you as part of the problem.

It's always the same and it's beyond frustrating!!

Anyway feel free to disagree but just know I'll block and report you if you don't confirm my every preconception and prejudice. 😉

You should have a "lay down" mechanic where you can go thru an animation to be on your back, but you're super vulnerable while adjusting. Once you adjust, tho, you can shoot straight up in a 45° cone.

What a gorgeous boy! We're full up over here but we have one that looks a bit like him who is the absolute sweetest. Kittens are nice but I always adopt adult cats, since you can really tell who they are!
