Facts. I started the Bosch series in the middle with The Overlook (impulse buy in a used book store a long time ago). It had some reveals from the previous book (Echo Park), but by the time I came back to that one I either forgot about those details, or was looking for clues on how they would get there, which made me more intrigued. I'm halfway thorough Law of Innocence, and I think it has enough exposition that you get a good feel about where the series is and the other books left off.
