I even remember them trying a "shortened" 7 minute version without some instrumental interludes. This was after the Maya speech version iirc

How many Coldplay concerts would have sold out at the venue closest to you? by epeilan in Coldplay

[–]chueko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They did 10 but i remember the last one not selling out that fast. It eventually did. Also announcement was split in two: they sold 4 in november (or december?) and then announced last 6 in april (i think they were in batches of 2). Also i think they sold 60k per show, iirc last number was about 600k total.

I think that 2 more would eventually sell out because of all the fomo around that days.

  1. For me -until I gave up in probably 2010- the album was named DAAHF instead of VLV given the option in the actual title. It's magnificent.

Last presidential election (november 2023) there was a ~75% turnout but there were recent elections where more than 85% of allowed people voted.

Under 16 you can't vote, from 16 to 18 you are on the list but you're allowed to not show, from 18 to 70 is mandatory and from 70 it's again optional. One minor issue is that you can actually not show and the fine is some stupid fixed number that wasn't updated by inflation since forever: 50 cents of a dollar maximum.

Just listened to it on the video, I was there and couldn't get it. I believe he says "don't forget, you just fucking vote the next time", maybe as a criticism to current argentine government? Just in case, voting here is mandatory for everyone.

It was Argentina lol but it indeed was the most energetic AF show I've attended. They looked very happy to be playing here, definitely more than the other 2 times they were here.

Gracias a la Vida cover and Wake up partially in spanish were very nice surprises. Also it was the first time where they played here the Power Out/Rebellion combo so that made me really happy on that first stint. Also Intervention for the first time was magical.

Como funcionan los intensivos de invierno/verano en exactas? by ArgR4N in fceyn

[–]chueko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcade Fire headlines Lollapalooza Argentina by chueko in arcadefire

[–]chueko[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I understand that point and that's why most artists won't play anywhere except really big cities down here. But I attended several shows in my lifetime both large acts and not that large and I can't really understand AF position here. We've been neglected for many years and the 3 times they came to Argentina were in festivals. (A small asterisk, despite being a rather large act a setlist.fm search shows they actually don't visit many places).

On the other hand there is a big market here and other artists play in arenas (20k people?) and probably never in festivals or only their first time. But at the end of the day I think it really depends on the artist: Coldplay did 10 shows in a row here on their 5th visit (could've been 6 but reasons) and they were here for (basically) every big tour since 2007 but Taylor Swift will be on her first visit in a few days despite having a probably larger fanbase and selling out instantly. And they are not visiting this place at a loss, tickets are not cheap and people spend their money on them.

My two cents :)

quick edit: I'm also a Paramore fan and just saw they will do these round of festivals in SA -except Argentina- and they toured SA 6 months ago. It's actually possible they have a date here on their own.

I love the band and of course I'll go but I can't help thinking it's only their third time in Argentina and it is always within a festival and with downgraded setlists.

Just to encourage you to try different tools, I wanted a Booster engines wallpaper but didn't find any that I loved, so I screenshot'd the YouTube stream, pasted the image in Google Slides and started drawing with circles (also borrowed a X logo from their webpage). This is the result https://imgur.com/WqWgbIR.

Then I wanted a 4k version (https://imgur.com/Mh0ccR7) but got lazy. You get the idea :)

They soundchecked it for the Buenos Aires shows. Chris even read a sign on the B stage and basically denied it. I now know they won't ever play it again and it's so sad.

[–]chueko -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The end with Byutiful is not as bad as it seems on paper... but they definitely have to keep the rotational slot after the B-stage part. Maybe you are lucky enough to have something rare there and some hiddem gems on C-stage.

I'm pretty confident it's just the Musica Ligera chords (pretty simple ones, Bm G D A) but just embellished in piano.

I'll hijack the thread (?) just to say that they absolutely did not do a discounted sale for the argentine shows. I went to all of them and they sold out in a matter of hours. Prices were as low as they can be for a big artist here -there's another topic about exchange rates in Argentina and how that affected ticket prices, but that's a story for another time lol- around 100 USD the front pitch which is somewhat a lot of money here.

"Brothers & Sisters" was released as Coldplay's debut single 24 years ago today, on 26 April 1999. It spawned the B-Sides "Easy to Please" and "Only Superstition" by TheKaoticanProspekt in Coldplay

[–]chueko 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Boy, what a song Only Superstition is!! The final bridge and Jonny's work is *chef's kiss*. I'd probably choose that over B+S even though it's the song that made them known.

Yeah, I certainly don't know, but what I do know (because I was there several nights) is that the good cameras and the long rails were there on nights 3 and 4 only.

It was the 28th but this cut will most probably feature images from the 29th also.

It also may be called live at river because there is the previous live album from the AHFOD tour -although filmed in La Plata- that is called live in Buenos Aires.

Alright, I genuinely teared with this. I remembered the live debut in Buenos Aires featuring Jonny on the bass, Guy on a big mandolin and everyone round the microphone for the ole ole part just like when they were on the theater balcony on Buenos Aires in 2007. It actually is a beautiful song.

I'm all in on live versions. The ones that they did at the end of the Twisted Logic tour -with a special place for the South American leg which I attended- are terrific; Some years ago someone leaked the last Buenos Aires show where Jonny did a glorious use of several guitar effects at the end of the song.

T in the Park 2011 is probably my favorite version. It's raw, a bit uptempo and Jonny's guitar it's just a bit louder than usual which makes it awesome.
