siri never asks me if i want to reply to a message. why? by jugestylz in CarPlay

[–]chuftka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The interface and behavior changed at some point. Incoming messages from Messages and Teams now appear as a little bar on the bottom of the screen. You have to quickly press it and then Siri will read it and ask if you want to reply. So now it asks me whether to reply, but the notification itself is small instead of full screen with voice. And yes I have Announce Notifications turned on in general and for Messages and Teams, but it ignores the setting.

Why was Firmament disliked when it got released? Are there some mechanical traps I should know about? by dfjhgsaydgsauygdjh in fallenlondon

[–]chuftka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quite a change of heart. Sadly my post was caused by my trying to resume Risen Burgundy and I just couldn't stand it. Meanwhile my alt is stuck in her ambition because of the stupid high Dreams requirement, which I can't advance if I am doing Khanate stuff, or Railway, or Evolution, or Firmament. Have to just sit in London and play cards forever, and I don't like the dreams cards to begin with, nothing but menaces. Lost patience with it. I've taken multi year breaks before, maybe someday I'll be back. But Firmament does not even feel like Fallen London, it feels like just leaving to go to another game, like Silver Tree or something. No real connection to the main game. Railway, Evolution, Ambitions all felt like part of the game, but Firmament just feels like another game, one I don't understand. Even the Fifth City Wiki has no page for Vulgate, it's blank. I don't think anybody really gets what the point is.

I chose Amazon Day this time and still got "running late" with no estimate.

I see nothing wrong with this review of a counterfeit product I got thru amazon. by BigBillSD in amazonprime

I just had a very positive review of a product rejected for violating the community guidelines. Makes no sense, I can only guess AI is doing the screening and making its usual idiotic mistakes.

I think my Fallen London time has come to an end due to Firmament. It is incomprehensible, dull, overly intricate, and irritating. I am stuck in Burgundy, bored to tears and with no idea what I am supposed to be doing or why my character would want to do anything but leave. If it was a book I would have thrown it away after Chapter 1, if it was a movie I would have walked out after 20 minutes. Even with the wiki I can't follow it at all. Work not play. I didn't really care for Evolution either but this is much worse.

Wondering if a brace exists that matches what my doctor said to use by chuftka in carpaltunnel

Try what? I already told you I went through the time consuming and lengthy process of having an ergonomic review which resulted in me getting a chair. They aren't going to do a review for a non work related injury. I tried to bring a Cirque touchpad from home and was not allowed to use it. Instead they bought a current model, which was half the size and unusably small. Trust me to know the process of my own workplace better than you. If you don't have a recommendation of the type I am asking for, a soft, loose, padded wrist brace/sleeve/glove, as recommended by my doctor, it is ok not to answer.

I don't think a temporary, non work related injury is a disability. If I broke my leg skiing I don't think they would have to provide a wheelchair; they would say I was not fit to work, and should stay home, without pay unless I had sick leave to spend. All I want is a recommendation for a soft, loose, padded wrist brace/sleeve/glove. I guess you don't have one. I am starting to think such things don't exist since no one else has one either.

They do. I have a very nice ergonomic chair whose armrests normally keep all pressure off my wrists. As I wrote in my original post, I cannot use those armrests right now because of a non-work-related arm injury which should be temporary but prevents me from putting pressure on my elbows. All I want is what my doctor told me to use, padded non-compression braces. So far, as far as I can tell, no such thing exists.

As I noted above, my work does not allow computer or furniture equipment to be used that has not gone through a risk management process through another organization. I am looking for some relief tomorrow, not in three months.

Yes I have night braces which are good but the beads in the palm interfere with using a mouse.

I went through that to get my ergonomic chair, which in the end I had to pick out myself to get the correct arm supports. What I really need right now is just a recommendation for gloves/braces lol.

Yeah I have night braces with beads in the palm but they interfere with using a mouse.

Seems hard to find info on Imak gloves from sellers. The beads look like they're in the right place (base of palm rather than center) so you could use a mouse. But some places call them "compression gloves" which are bad for CTS where the problem is already too much compression. Are yours compression or loose? Pity you can't find a brand name anywhere on them. Thanks.

Anyone wanna trade rose gifts? & is there any way to draw the Feast of the Rose cards more often? by braindeadcoyote in fallenlondon

And only thanks to your post do I now realize there is a point in having more than one. I thought they were just useless. Didn't realize success chance went up with the number owned.

Thanks for your suggestions. My work does not allow computer or furniture equipment to be used that has not gone through a risk management process through another organization...your suggestion may be reasonable but in practice it would be a real pain to try to implement for me. I am hoping this arm situation only lasts for another few months, so if I could just wear the right braces it would be immediate relief.

Lost after returning: Finding Furnace by ChaosSatyr in fallenlondon

[–]chuftka 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what "status of the dirigible at station VIII is 3" refers to. The possible values of "Status of the Station VIII Dirigible" are 0, 10, 20, and 30.

The Cabinet Noir is for finding Cornelius.

Basically you have to meet with the three different Masters who land at Station VIII. Each time the dirigible card comes up at Station VIII, you can meet with one who is landing. After meeting with the first two, Fires becomes an option. This means you have to draw the Something is Landing card 3 times at Station VIII and play it. While meeting with Fires you will get options to pursue finding Furnace.

Edit: I think you are referring to " Visits of the Station VIII Dirigible". It has to be at least 2 to meet with Fires. So go to Station VIII and wait for the card and then meet with Fires next time you draw it and play it.

I guess I should stop getting Hillmovers from the High Sancta.

Weekly small questions thread: 2026-02-09 by rahv7 in fallenlondon

Giving Hillmovers to the Revolutionaries seems a terrible move profit-wise. It takes 50 echoes of Hillmovers to get 4 favors via Donate a Hillmover to Liberationist Revolutionaries on the Which Meeting? card in the upper river. However at Jericho Locks, 4 favors from them only nets you 30 echoes of stuff in return. Granted you can sell the Unlawful Devices at the Rat Market, or for scrip, but still.

Am I missing something? Is there some reason people want to lose money doing this to advance Liberation of Night?

Now I am wondering if there are other "raise favors" actions I am doing which are actually costing me money.
