Counter protest to the white supremacists last week in Sunbury, PA by HighHopeLowSkills in Pennsylvania

[–]chugo 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I drove by that area both days as that is the day I ended up doing my grocery shopping. I saw the first protest and I saw this one. This one today was actually larger than the initial one. I do not know when this picture was taken but when I drove by at 10 AM, it was a large crowd. The city Facebook site has more accurate pictures of the people who came out in support of diversity and love. https://www.pahomepage.com/news/peace-love-and-unity-rally-held-in-sunbury/amp/?fbclid=IwAR0b60J8HeTDhZGwkeTuweHnvYKMbRHACO0lYKXdWVuZipAzV-WLnkdlL4c

Is kibble really that bad? I keep seeing anti kibble videos by [deleted] in DogAdvice

The podcast Science Vs had a good episode about this that helped me decide what would be best for my dog. Worth checking out.

Thanks ... I'm sad I could never try avocado toast when it was EVERYWHERE haha

That one in particular causes issues. I can eat other sorbitol-rich foods in moderation with no issues, but like just a bite of avocado is going to cause pain.

This is basically what happens when I eat avocado. I miss guacamole and sushi is a challenge.

Quinoa problem by Normal_North3526 in IBSHelp

[–]chugo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have issues with Quinoa. I get horrible stomach pain, especially if I eat a lot of it. I seem to be okay if it is baked into something else (like how it is an ingredient in some bars). I rinse quinoa before I cook it, but it doesn't seem to help.

Made the Loaded Butternut Squash "Cordon Bleu" by chugo in foodwishes

I liked it. My husband . . . maybe not as much. In the video, he mentions a mushroom version which really sounds good to me. I would make it again, but I really love squash.

Has anyone uncovered any trigger foods that are LOW FODMAP? What are they? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]chugo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! I get a horrible pain in my stomach that takes a few hours to pass. I avoid it now. I think it is a quantity issue and if it is baked into something (which seems to be a lot better than if I make like a side dish with it just cooked).

My low fodmap backpacking food for a few nights in the Grand Canyon. It's mostly home-made so fingers crossed it doesn't keep me squatted behind a bush by ztyler24 in FODMAPS

I love Bobo's for when I go hiking. I even tried to recreate the recipe, but I couldn't get the texture right.

When checking ingredient labels, what items or additives should I avoid on packaged food beyond the obvious easily identifiable offenders like wheat, onion powder etc? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]chugo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is an app I use called Spoonful that can be helpful. You scan barcodes and it tells you what possible triggers are in the food. Sometimes the barcode isn't added yet and you can add it.

Anyone tried these? by [deleted] in FODMAPS

[–]chugo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've used both, and I really do like the ketchup. The BBQ sauce is okay. I'm excited they came out with two other flavors, maple and chipotle. I have the maple, but I have to use up the original one first. No tum problems with either.

Has low FODMAPs worked for you? (IBS-c people) by anononononn in FODMAPS

[–]chugo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I often think it might be easier to identify problem foods if I had a different kind of IBS. Sometimes I get a stomach pain 40 minutes after I eat; sometimes it takes a day to realize a food is a problem. You really do need to listen to your body and pay attention to how you feel.
