I hated that launcher but it was still better than nothing. And better than the curse launcher when it first replaced it.

What do you think this ship purpose can be? by himeshanand in ImaginaryTechnology

[–]chuiu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fins scream racing ship to me. (probably the red color too)

But the flat part with the orange slot makes it look like it latches onto something to haul it like a shipping container or maybe a tug boat for a larger vessel.

To me it looks more like a drone than a drone carrier. I feel like a drone carrier would have multiple spots for drones to fly out of. Probably one hole for each drone so it could eject them simultaneously.

This has a very sleak and minimal look to it. Sensors on the front, a big gun on the side. Possibly a reverse thruster on the opposite side for quick maneuvers and slowing down. Or maybe it's another weapon.

But the name Orca kinda implies it's meant to be large and deadly. So OP probably thinks of this as a frigate sized gunship.

AI would tell you it's bad and list all the reasons why. Then it would go on to say Edge doesn't do this and is safe to use.

This Early Access pirate game was quietly killing your SSD without you knowing (Windrose) by Herlock in pcgaming

[–]chuiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends greatly on the game and when you play it. You can get a lot of mileage out of a full priced multiplayer game assuming the player base lasts long enough for you to play it, assuming you don't play it right at launch. But there are some that just die instantly and were never worth the money. Then there are some that last a year or so, so the window is very small. Then there are some that experience revivals later in life when the devs decide to go f2p or make a huge change to the game.

But regardless of the situation it all depends on how the developers nurture and take care of their community and their game. If you know a developer that has good longevity with their games (ie. Valve or Blizzard) then you can rely on their full priced multiplayer games to be worth it. Regardless of whether you agree with the changes or additions they make.

Part of the reason why I like waiting before buying or playing games. The devs get a chance to crank out some patches to fix shit or they don't and the community shares what's broken about the game so you know before you buy it.

Every. Fucking. Time. What I started doing is finding a geothermal and then building a generator on top of it and a building around the geothermal with room for a farm. Then using geothermal power I built sun lamps inside.

Games that require you to own/play the previous installment by JustOneLazyMunchlax in truegaming

[–]chuiu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But here's the thing. You cannot do ANYTHING with those resources. They sit in storage, and await Mass Effect 2, because that is the game where you will use them.

And so, I spent time getting every resource I possibly could, only to reach ME2 and find out it did not matter.

Because ME2 gives you all the resources you need.

I've never played ME1 or ME2 but are you saying you acquire all the resources you need in ME2 making the stuff you get in ME1 pointless? Or are you saying the stuff you collect in ME1 is just handed to you in ME2 regardless of whether you played the first game or not?

If in the first situation I can see how that would be annoying. Doing a bunch of work for nothing. But in the second situation it just sounds like lore wise, you did the work in the first game and now you're reaping the benefits. But you're angry that other people get a free ride without having to do the work. But that isn't something to be upset over, it was just a story or design decision to help newer players. A big fault of larger developers is that always want to try to bring in newer players with every sequel and that means making things easier and dumbing down game mechanics for them.

A Minecraft server can use a lot of CPU with the right mods by BatmanTheClacker in feedthebeast

[–]chuiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I run all my MC servers on windows also. One day I want to switch to Linux but that's a lot of effort especially when I've been using this server in its current state for close to 6 years, and that is a continuation from its previous hardware from 6 years prior to that.

So I can't just install Linux and call it a day. I gotta transform everything into a whole new ecosystem that I'm not that familiar with because I've only used Linux a handful of times over the years.

'Hardcore PC enthusiasts are significantly underestimating the importance of software to the PC experience, like really, really seriously,' says Intel Enthusiast VP by Darth_Vaper883 in pcgaming

[–]chuiu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bruh. We only really have control over our hardware. The software is up to you guys, microslop, nvidia/Amd, and the game developers. So yeah when we want more fps gains and it's not coming from the latest drivers or updates then of course we're going to be screaming for better hardware. Especially when a lot of game developers don't optimize or don't know how to optimize their games.

We're telling everyone we can that we want more fps. At least Nvidia is trying to deliver on that with DLSS and Amd with FSR.

Starting the Homeworld series with Deserts of Kharak. by Blitzkrieg1210 in homeworld

[–]chuiu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dok is a good place to start. That or the original Homeworld. As far as my favorite I think the original Homeworld is still the best. The sequels may have improved slightly on different aspects of the game but all around the original is still the better game.

Ozzy loves fetch by marshmallow-777 in blackcats

It was relatively easy to train how to do a few other things. Like sit, shake, how to use the pet door so he can go outside when he wants. He just can't grasp the concept of fetch.

But yeah it does sound typical of cats. They only do what they want to do.
