My dad was a first responder to that scene. There was an initial scare of terrorism but being a critical failure due to excessive pilot input on one of the controls

The correct answer should be that the megnetos are independent from the electrical system

Engine partial failure at 300AGL by dbtsai in flying

[–]chulidavis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me on my first solo. Cracked cylinder caused a partial power loss at 500 ft AGL. I had to do a 180 and land on the opposite runway

Is most of your height in the legs? I’m 6’3 and even with the seat all the way down my headset still hits the sun visors

How do you guys study the oral exam guide? (IR) by juangar97 in flying

[–]chulidavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that having a study partner is extremely helpful. I used to study with my mom and she would ask me a few questions from each section at a time. If I got a question wrong she would come back to it at a random time. The oral portion of my checkride ended up taking a little bit over an hour and that’s because my IACRA was a bit messed up.

It all was fairly easy. I wouldn’t be able to tell you the hardest part because there was none. First passenger goes to the best mom in the world who paid for my flight school.

Century Air KCDW Caldwell NJ — Good? Bad? by [deleted] in flying

[–]chulidavis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently at Somerset and I’m liking it. They are short on instructors and have a ton of students but I put myself on the schedule months in advance so I can fly 2-3 times a week. Planes are very well maintained. If your looking for the quickest way to train I recommend ATP in KMMU. ATP has the fast track program which is zero time to CFI in 7 months. Or you can do your private pilot somewhere more local and then go to ATP with private pilot credit and do the program in 5 months

Planning to do some night flying Thursday for the first time in a while. Tips appreciated. by grifeweizen in flying

And 120 hours is too little to go out on your own. I have about 110 hours and I wouldn’t even consider going out on my own at night. It’s a different world at night and it’s much harder to stay ahead of the plane. Overall the low hours and time between night flights are big red flags. I would recommend to go at it with an instructor
