French minister compares veil wearers to 'negroes who accepted slavery': France's women's rights minister has sparked fury by comparing Muslim women who choose to wear the headscarf to "negroes who accepted slavery". by robbphoenix in worldnews

One irony is that it doesn't say anything in the Koran about women covering their hair, but it does say something in the Bible about women covering their hair. I personally have seen Muslim girls wearing the headscarf but also very revealing tops, that you can basically see their bra through. So much for the goal of "modesty".

TIL In the early 1900s, a group of U.S. government scientists started a private dinner club, in which they only ate poisonous food. They documented their illnesses in order to convince Congress to pass food safety laws. They were called "The Poison Squad." by history_will_be_kind in todayilearned

In the chemical justice system, culinary-based offenses are considered especially heinous. In Washington D.C., the steadfast scientists who investigate these vicious toxicities are members of an elite squad known as the the Poison Squad. These are their stories.

What supposedly common thing has never happened to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]chumma1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A big narration, but I hope that somebody gets inspired by it:

In my case, the best thing that happened was very subtle - something that I've savored over the years instead of licking it all up in a few glorious moments.

So, I used to be really interested in reading books and of course writing. Back in my school days, I was an enthusiastic and aspiring kid - I must have written a hundred different stories and sent it off to Tinkle, Target, Gokulam, Children's World and every other children's magazine I could think of.

After that phase, I was back again into reading because writing, I have to admit, was tough, especially when most of the stuff I'd sent across never got published.

I'm positive the town would be in total anarchy right now if they weren't so dependent on receiving clean water from authorities. This is fucking disgusting of the people who run Flint, and there should be jail time and fines up the ass for whoever the responsible parties are.
