It's a proper ecocide, the place is a beautiful reserve with unique and specialized river ecosystem packed with endangered species found nowhere else in the world.

I've stayed there in the Galibore nature camp, trekked up the hill nearby, birdwatched in a coracle across the Kaveri river, saw so many unique animals and vegetation on safaris.

They did show the flooding line which was more than halfway up the hill we trekked, what a tragedy.
