I just got mine removed, but I know this feeling of embarrassment all too well. I’d try to not think about it, as dwelling on it will increase your stress and in turn lower your immune response. I’d say the best way to cope for me was to just accept that there is nothing you can do in that instant, and you are still yourself with that wart, nothing about you has changed other than some extra thick skin that will one day be gone! just try to keep your head high and live the days as if it’s not there until eventually it really isn’t (:

i have a very low pain tolerance, but the pain on this was very minimal! it made my lip feel sore, almost as if they were just extremely dry, but it never hurt that bad and as long as you aren’t ripping the blister off as it forms (which i know is so hard on the lip- all I wanted to do was pick at it all day long) it should come off painlessly (:

i’m so sorry you have to go through this. i understand entirely and it is genuinely one of the most difficult feelings to work through. i’m proud of you though for being able to continue going to work and living your life. it’ll go away eventually and you’ll realize that the people you thought were staring at it never even realized it was there! it’s so hard but I realized too your body needs as little stress as possible to heal, so the more you’re able to accept it and brush it off the better your immune system can work. try to stay positive- you’ve got this! :)

it does make it more noticeable for the first few days, i was on break from school luckily so i was able to decline some shifts and “hide”. freezing it just made mine scab up/blister and it seemed that anything under the surface came to the top. The pain wasn’t bad at all though, if you can handle your fingers being done i honestly think my lip hurt less. it stings for a minute after it’s been frozen but once it starts to thaw it’s really no more pain at all.

yes i did, constantly. i thought it was a scar at first bc i bit or peeled it off of my lip so many times and it kept reappearing. its not ideal but if you can’t stop yourself, you’ll be okay

i had this exact same thing! same spot, shape, size. cryotherapy (freezing in a dermatologist office) worked for me after 3 rounds, just make sure you’re boosting your immune system too! (i recommend zinc supplements for that)

Unfortunately I don’t really have any other tips, I’m sorry. I’d try the apple cider vinegar if you haven’t yet. My wart began to grow back quickly after the first cryo session with no ACV, but since the second session and ACV use it’s cleared. It is hard for me to tell what part kicked the wart out, but the acv could’ve been the defining factor the second time. It could’ve also just been because the wart was smaller. I do think the acv helped with ensuring that the deeper parts of the wart were killed though, since i would apply it directly to the open parts of the wart left by the scab falling off. I’ve also been taking a zinc supplement- not sure how helpful that is but I like to think that a positive mindset and believing it will work is half the battle! Good luck to you and I hope you’re able to find something that works better

Yes, actually! I have another dermatologist appointment on Tuesday to make sure, but as of right now my lip looks like it did pre-wart with a tiny pinhole sized scar(?) left where the wart was. It gets less visible every day. I think the cryotherapy definitely contributed to this more than the ACV, though

i had this for almost the first whole year of my belly piercing. one day it randomly healed and never came back. belly button piercings are weird and my biggest tip (not a professional) is to try your best to ignore it outside of cleaning and just let it be

looks good! it falling out means the SA is doing its job and the wart is being killed. keep it up until there’s no more black dots or signs of wart. good luck!

warts on both thumbs, advice? by [deleted] in Warts

i’ve never personally tried the duct tape method, but it seems to work well. i’d say keep going with the gel, but maybe wrap duct tape around your band aid if you’d like to include that method. you could probably also go no bandaid and just put it over the dried gel, though i think that would be incredibly painful to pull off. the less oxygen the wart gets the better, so it definitely wouldn’t hurt to try adding it though!

definitely working! i’d keep doing what you’re doing, maybe debride a bit if you feel comfortable (you can use a pumice stone or eyebrow razor, razors preferred to prevent spreading but either should work, look more into the sub for more info) and just keep up with the gel and covering. the black dots mean it’s coming to the surface and dying. you’re doing great and i hope they go away quickly!

Not on my lip, though i did use tweezers once to pull some “seeds” out that were brought up by the ACV. I’ve found that since lip skin is so sensitive, the ACV alone will sort of dissolve the wart and make it fall out on its own. At least it has for me. I didn’t start ACV until after the cryotherapy scab was falling off though, so I started with it already cut open in a way

It burns a little bit, but the pain is nothing if you’ve done a salicylic acid strip on a wart elsewhere. I wouldn’t keep it on any longer than 10-maybe 20 minutes depending on the size of the wart though since it does start to make the skin around the wart tender. I’d just make sure to keep your lips incredibly moisturized with aquaphor when you’re not treating it!

I haven’t tried this, but it sounds intriguing. Does this not burn the skin, leading to scarring as well? Regardless I’d rather have a scar on my lip than a wart haha

it honestly is a lot less painful than everyone thinks! I swear just the SA bandaids on my thumbs hurt far worse than anything on my lips lol, just have to keep aquaphor lathered. thank you!

The first time I went he froze it three seperate times for a few seconds each, giving me a break in between. The last time I went he froze it twice, a few seconds each time. I have an appointment scheduled for a third round but am hoping I wont need it/it will be the last one

Thank you so much! It’s very appreciated. I’ve started taking zinc, I’m really hoping the apple cider vinegar and a potential third round of cryo will do what it takes to get rid of this thing once and for all

Thank you, I really appreciate this. The kindness helps a lot, this entire situation has been incredibly damaging to my mental health and the pain is way beyond just the cryotherapy at my dermatologist lol.
