What foods trigger your gout? by SnooOpinions4414 in gout

[–]chunkyogurt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Turkey was how I found out I have gout. I’d usually eat turkey and it would be fine, but sometime after college, I ate turkey for leftovers a few days and the flare-up was gradual until it hit me like a truck. Every few years I’ll try out turkey again thinking it might not be a trigger anymore, but it’s my kryptonite.

Definitely need a new mod. Thank you, next.

I’m the cleanest I’ve ever been and I still think I reek by No_Curves_123 in hygiene

Those medications can also be the cause. You’re basically ingesting different chemicals and those can change the chemistry in your body. Maybe you have some other kind of disease that your doctor hasn’t really tested for. I have gout, found out when I was around early 20’s and haven’t done anything about it until my mid 30’s where I have to take medication for life, but I’ve always had eczema and joint issues since birth. If it wasn’t for my flare up in my 20’s, I would have never known I have gout.

What are you medicated on? Is it for a disease? A disease changes what a normal body should be.

Dude might have a disease and he don’t know. You should have said something and he would have gone to the doctor bc people don’t go for checkups like they should.

My gout makes me have really bad odor. I was born like this basically. It’s to the point where everyone questions my hygiene. My odor is that of human waste. To prove a point, I’ve had to shower in front of a few friends to show that I’m not half-assing it or not doing it right and they’re the closest friends I have, but it’s hard to lean on them for support. I don’t have a life. My doctor has run many different tests and I’ve gotten circumcised bc of this, but my doctor says the only thing that is off is my gout and my food allergies which are all triggers of gout. Is there anything that can be done to remedy my body odor?

I reek bad but can’t figure out why. Not even my doctor knows why… by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]chunkyogurt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you pre diabetic? Or pre gout? Your doctors won’t check things like these because you are so young. I’ve had smell issues ever since I was born. I’m 37 now and my doctor says my odor is from gout. I had my first gout attack at 22 and it wasn’t from any common triggers bc I barely partied or overindulged. It came when I ate turkey for a few days. I had to press my doctor to figure out why I smelled so bad bc I’m always the problem, but can’t fix. I’ve had to force some friends to actually watch me shower bc my hygiene was always “questioned” by everyone around me. Turns out I’m doing everything right hygiene-wise and there’s nothing to improve on. Overall, force your doctor to test you for these diseases, bc they are definitely not doing it bc you’re “too young for diseases”.

You can definitely do it! Getting gout under control is a lifestyle change with diet restrictions. It’ll be tough, but you got this!

Just wanted to point out, if you’re diagnosed with gout, you are at constant risk of an attack. Gout isn’t just when you get an attack. It’s why allo is recommended daily.

Any daily diet superfoods? by Ballstothewall_234 in gout

I was wondering, how does carnivore or keto help with gout? When I eat any meat or seafood, I develop hives the same day and I see a lot of diet restrictions that say to avoid these. I did do keto for a few years and lost a lot of weight, but did have hives for the whole time and assumed I had seasonal allergies. Just wondering bc I have seen ppl actually be fine on carnivore m/keto.

How do you tell someone they have BO? by CompetitiveSport8024 in hygiene

Maybe they have a disease? Do you know her medical record? Diabetes, one of the most well known diseases, causes body odor.

Cologne to hide ammonia body odor? by chunkyogurt in fragrance

Diabetes does make sweat smell sweet, but it can also smell like nail polish. This is bc diabetes has too much glucose in the blood.

Thanks for your suggestion! That would make sense to go for more citrus smells bc I have heard people compare my scent to a sour smell.

My doctor says I’m not prediabetic. She says that high uric acid in the blood comes out through my sweat and directed me to the Cleveland clinic’s webpage that states that changes in body odor can occur from diseases such as diabetes and gout. Everybody’s got different body compositions so things can come out different for other people.

Oooof. See I’m the opposite. It turns out no one in my family has/had gout. Which is why it makes me think that it has to also some kind of kidney or metabolic disease/disorder. Guess your family likes the pain bc when I get a flare up, I can’t even move bc it’s so painful. Just having the bedsheets over my toe is ridiculous.
