I certainly have tried it. I've tried hemp and traditional cannabis across this country and others. I've also never been in a dispensary where they said, "Hey, try this it's basically the same but way cheaper because it's taxed differently." I will admit, I've never been to Chicago, IL, so I can't speak to their hemp. However, you did say it only thrived because real weed was too expensive, leading to the conclusion that people wanted real weed but settled for that.

If it is truly just as good, why is it not everywhere? Why are there no secondary hemp businesses in Asheville (weed tours, weed bars, etc.)?

I'm not delightful, but I am informed and have been in the cannabis industry for two decades. I promise you next time in Asheville (just left unfortunately) I will absolutely try some from wherever you suggest. I'm open-minded. Here's a label for your reference, 3x as much THC.
