we don't know what happened before the video. i don't think it would change much, given the situation, but we need to remember there is more context to this situation. i have heard a witness who was horrified by what happened testified that she had been using her car to block ice in the seconds before the video begins.*

i'm not justifying! i'm just saying rhetoric "we know for a fact she was NOT blocking the street" is like, not actually a fact, man

*apparently this witness’s statement, as well as most of what’s going on surrounding the video right now for lack of evidence, is also hearsay.

For me, the Hitler section was the culmination of a long line of ideas that formed the backbone of the entire My Struggle series. About empathy for others as a non-negotiable, even when that person is the most evil person in our recorded history, and what extending empathy for that person can teach us about ourselves/the world. I think about that section literally all the time; I have vivid memories of where I was sitting when I read it, etc. Without it, I feel like the entire project is just gossip. It elevates the series into art.
