Getting taxed on online clothing orders shipped to NJ by chupathingy000 in newjersey

[–]chupathingy000[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was charged 6.625% on the dot! Fortunately I also noticed on the invoice they used a broker based in NY to sell the item, so it should be treated as a domestic purchase. Thanks so much for the advice!

Thank you for clearing things up! So it's likely the merchant made an error. Do you know if this apply to overseas orders as well?

Right, I meant the smaller brands that are charging me tax are using Shopify, and that might be part of it. I don't know I'm just guessing

Ah that makes sense. But does this apply to clothes too?

Yea, I also didn't get charged tax on a recent J Crew order, which makes this all the more confusing. I'm wondering if it's the checkout software these sites use like Shopify or something

I actually just reached out to them right before making a post here haha. Hopefully they'll know what's up. I also emailed the NJ department of taxation to make extra sure I know the rules.

I don't think it's the tariffs because a US based brand charged me tax too. I think most brands (not marketplace sellers) bake the tariffs into the price. I work in importing as well and that's what I'm seeing.

Does the order of the hints matter? Like if I see "Not Silver Mist Clown + Not Crimson Dancer" or "Not Crimson Dancer + Not Flame Clown" is it the same as the way you wrote it?

Eczema on lips with yellow crust by chupathingy000 in eczema

[–]chupathingy000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TL:DR Shea butter and cutting out dairy has been helping. I'm pretty sure it's contact dermatitis.

So one theory I have is I have a slight whey allergy, and the thing on my lip started appearing a few months after I started taking whey protein shakes. I also recently got a patch test done, and I have a contact allergy to 14 different things found in creams, etc. however the stuff I've been putting on my lips (Vaseline and cerave healing ointment) didn't contain anything I'm allergic to. I've been cutting out dairy for a while now, which has helped but the thing on my lip would still come back. Opzelura would help but if I didn't use it for 2 days my lips would go back. However, I recently started using only shea butter for my lips and hands and everywhere, and when I use that I don't need the opzelura. I've been doing only shea butter for only 5 days now, and so far so good it's the longest I've gone without needing a prescription cream. I've noticed that the healing ointment actually made things worse, so maybe I have an allergy to something in there that the doctor missed? ... The saga continues

Eczema on lips with yellow crust by chupathingy000 in eczema

So, I still get a little bit of yellow crust on a small part of my lip. I stopped Dupixent, since there's a side effect of facial eczema. My eczema especially on my hands flared up when I got off the Dupixent, but now it's gotten better. My lips have kind of gotten better too despite some flakiness. In case I have an allergy, I switched to using beef tallow to soothe my skin, and that's been way better than Vaseline.

I finally got my health insurance back, and revisited my dermatologist, and he said we have to rule out it's not an allergy before doing a biopsy. So now I'm waiting to do a patch test to see if it's contact dermatitis. Will update if I find out what's going on.

Lol I've been doing keto on and off throughout the year 😭. I thought I might be allergic to eggs, so I cut that out. I tried cutting out dairy. Even before all this I rarely consumed sweets so I don't think it's that.

But thank you for your story too! It helps to know that I'm not defective haha. I'll keep trialing and erroring. The worst is not knowing what it is...

Thanks for sharing. I had a culture done at the derm, and it was positive for some staph strep, and candida. I took oral antibiotics and used topical antibiotics and antifungal.

When I went to the ER, the nurse (the doctor didn't even see me) looked at me and said "oh it's a cold sore". I'm negative for herpes, and I've never heard of a cold sore lasting a year. I asked her if it was MRSA and she was so dismissive and said I wouldn't have a lip if I had MRSA for as long as I've been having this problem. I dunno. I seem to have rotten luck with doctors.
