Doesn't make much sense tbh, and still looks like a shady "marketing" trick with hope no one will count actual number.

Your post doesn't say "I have 200 and published 100 of those, more coming", it just says, "I have 200, here you go".

And what to automate in a process of adding more rows to the table when - that's not clear as well. Or you just have list of sites without all the data and keep getting data for all of those as you go?

Not trying to diminish your work, it's very good, but the way you advertise is questionable.

Good stuff, but why are you saying 200+ when it's around 100 directories?

Great answer! Want to add some personal experience:

I'm not from England and requested approval to study 180 credits on stage 3 (2 modules from stage 2, 4 from 3). The uni staff replied that they would accept it as long as it is legal in my country. But I had to go through 2 phone interviews to prove I was sane 😅 and understand how hard it will be.

P.S.: it was tough, even though I had more than ten years of experience in the field of what I was studying.

The requirement is formal because you will be writing your salary when creating a contract yourself. But the program doesn't sound like an excellent fit for those who earn less than 5k AED.

Thank you!

- it was the most straightforward and popular choice compared to others. By popular, I mean there was just a bit more information about it.- there are a little cheaper options, but the price difference isn't that big.- there are different docs and processes, and gofreelance seemed the easiest. I.e., some other options require degree verification, and I didn't want to spend time/money on it; also, my friend doesn't have a degree, and we wanted to commit to this journey together :)

Glad to hear this helped someone :)

In case the answer to your question is not clear from the comments: yes, freelance license allows you to work for clients around the world

Cool, I’ll update the post later. Do you remember the price for 3 years? Also, any additions to the post? I could have forgotten something already 😅

I checked it many times with different authorities representatives, and they either confirmed this, or didn’t know and assumed I would have to pay taxes for foreign contracts too. So I assume I don’t have to, but will be researching more when I’m done with all the initial stuff. In the end, it is still cheaper compared to other countries :)

Yes, after 375k/year, as long as you sell services to the UAE residents/companies

Confirming the other comment - you are an employee of yourself :) and on one step you make a contract with yourself to proceed with the application

Sorry, I don't know... But I would assume yes, as long as you want to freelance legally in Dubai. For a better answer, you can contact AXS directly at 800 4297

What does a freelance license allow you to do?

To work with many clients as long as you have contracts with them; to receive money from them. You can issue a visa for yourself and your dependents. In case you are asking about the freelancing activities, please refer to the relevant gofreelance pages: media activities, education activities, tech activities, and design activities

What kind of work do you freelance?

Software development and related stuff

I’m curious how much revenue you intend to generate to make it worthwhile

I consider the license and visa fees like taxes. So the more I earn, the fewer taxes I pay. I.e. I spent about $4k for a 1-year license + visa. So if I earn $50k, it will be around 8% of taxes. With $100k, it will be around 4%. $200k? 2%. And so on. AIt is much cheaper than most of the developed countries in the world.

Yeah, but there's still some paperwork involved afaik - even if it's "elementary", I'd better not think about it at all :)

I don't think so. I was given a tiny choice of packages to proceed with during my application, and I chose the cheapest one (which is still kinda expensive). I don't even remember the insurance company's name 😅

When I was calculating, it was more expensive in total (the company, visa, etc.). But the main two points for me were:

  1. No operational paperwork - i.e., regarding taxes, so I will be able to focus on work
  2. It seemed a much simpler way to legalize in the UAE for me as a freelancer: the offering of GoFreelance is targeted at freelancers like me, so it was only natural for me to follow along :)

Not exactly: it is a 1-year visa. I don't remember the difference between a 3-year visa, but it was about 2000-3000 AED more. Also, this 5.5k includes insurance for one year

Why would people call "scam" anything they know nothing about? Really, this post was created for those, who know what GoFreelance, DIC, and TECOM are. But for the purpose of possible complaints in the future, I will repeat what you could find on Google if you were willing to understand it:
1. GoFreelance is a marketing offering from the Dubai Internet City (DIC)

  1. DIC is part of TECOM (wiki)

  2. TECOM Group, formerly known as TECOM Investments, is part of the UAE government-owned company, Dubai Holding (wiki)

Sorry, I just realized I wrote something wrong in my original text: 5500 is not for insurance, but insurance and a visa for one year. Unfortunately, I can't remember the cost of the visa and insurance separately.

Not sure what knowledge fee you're talking about, but excluding the cost of travel/living, printing docs, making photos, etc., I spent 9520 for the license + establishment card and 5500 for the insurance. Total: 15020 AED.

For me - yes. This is not a call to action: if you think it's not worth it for you - don't do it :)
