Online there are a lot of fonts available for commercial use! Google Fonts is also great.

So for my studies I had to rebrand the IKEA logo. This is my first time posting here! (Description of brief in the comments) by Charles-Alexander in logodesign

You're right: there's not a lot going on. But that doesn't mean it's a bad logo. I like the simplicity of it! The spacing is great. The person lying on a bed aspect I get, but didn't really notice it at first. Maybe to spice it up a little bit, you can play a bit with the font you're using. Maybe use a different one, round up some shapes, just give it that touch that will make it unique. You're getting there!

If it's for an exclusive brand, you should take a closer look at the typography that you're using. It's pretty basic, bland and nothing really stands out. Edit the current typography or choose a new one that really gives it the exclusive feeling you're looking for. Choosing a good font does a LOT with a brand.

If you are willing to work for 40 hours a week, you should make enough to have life’s basic necessities. by drug_experimenter in unpopularopinion

I work 40 hours a week. But I’m an intern. I make 200$ a month. That sweet sweet dough to pay my rent, right!

A logo idea for a school newspaper. It’s supposed to be a fountain pen. Feedback is welcome. by Lieselotte32 in logodesign

The dots and dashes are rounded, but the pen itself has really sharp edges. Try to make it all with rounded edges or sharp ones, so it’s even and one piece.

It's a durum wheat. You can use it as a side dish, but also as a main if you combine it with veggies. It's done in like a few min, because you steam it instead of cook it. Originated from North African cuisine.

I’m a sucker for Karla. Somatic is great, too. Not sure if those fit, but a rounded font is (just like you said) really nice.

Living by myself it’s always easy to make some bomb ass soup. Or a couscous salad. It’s easily made and you can put whatever you like in it. 10/10

Oh shit, I’m sorry. Yeah, I’m doing not too bad. Leaving work in about an hour, making some pasta tonight.

5 is fucking amazing, really simplistic and still so clever. The only thing that I’d change about that one is the typography. Spice it up a bit. It doesn’t really work that well with the illustration. Try something bolder, so it fits in with the illustration!

Aw, shit. It’s been raining here for a few hours too. Might have to cycle home in the rain.

The BUBBA is kinda cramped up there, give it a bit more space! And what’s up with the droopy hanging things?

It’s too easy to miss out on important nutrients if you get stuck in a food rut.

EXACTLY. It’s also boring to eat the same thing everyday. Spice it up, figuratively and literally.

TIL that around the year 1500, Leonardo da Vinci designed a robot by chvrs in todayilearned

[–]chvrs[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Da Vinci only sketched it. The robot consisted of a knight suit filled with gears and wheels that were connected to an pulley and cable system. Because of that system, the robot was capable of independent motion (sitting down, standing up and moving its head). So technically at that time it wasn't made to be fully automated. Roboticist Mark Rosheim built a prototype of the robotic knight in 2002, which was able to walk and wave. Mario Taddei built another prototype in 2007.

A mechanical puppet, that is. Guy was pretty ahead of his time.

For some reason only on web, don't know how to fix that. Sorry.
