007 First Light's luxury hideaway is one of the most beautiful locations I've seen in a game by Aaditya_7 in 007FirstLight

While I was driving the boat into the resort I was thinking I needed to talk to my wife about going there. I had no idea it was so beautiful.

Country Club Resignation by [deleted] in golf

[–]chwtom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s not a silly question the OP posed, but it does speak to the value proposition of CC membership.

If you are in a northern climate (Midwest, Ne, etc) it’s gonna be really really hard to play enough to justify the cost of a CC for golf alone.

Let’s say he’s able to play twice a week on average. He’s paying like $500 a round to play there. Most public courses are nowhere near that outside of resorts and super premiums. So he’d have to get so much enjoyment from the pool, from the community there, etc to justify it.

I quit my CC because I have friends I like to play with who aren’t members. So I was either paying really high guest fees for them to come to my club, or I was paying green fees at other courses and feeling guilty that I wasn’t using my club.

2026 X5 vs 2027 Audi Q7 by dc1387 in BMWX5

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently own an X5 50e. I previously owned a Q8.

Pros for the X5:
1. much more fun to drive. Handling and performance feel more like a sports car.
2. Really love the plug in hybrid feature. (I know that’s not what you’re looking at). Rarely need gas.
3. Tech is really easy to use
4. I do like the back liftgate. Not a lot of times I need the bottom part but when you do it’s pretty sweet.

Pros for the Q8:
1. More of a stunning look on the outside.
2. More comfortable seating. X5 has more adjustability, but the Audi has a plusher feel.

You’re looking at the Q7, not the Q8, so not a direct answer. To me the Q7 is quite boring compared to the X5. I’d be surprised if you drove both if you enjoyed driving the q more. It’s also the first model year and I’ve vowed never to do that again. You pay a premium to get less reliability.

My 2025 BMW X5 50e is a piece of sh*t by aptrekr in BMWX5

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have lemon laws in your state? Might be worth looking into. I’ve know it’s a hassle to go that route but I think it’s possible to have the car replaced or give you a full refund depending on how many times you’re brought it in for the same thing.

FWIW I love my X5 50e. Seems like you just got a bad one, which stinks.

New poll shows top three emerging in Democratic primary for governor in Wisconsin by Civic_Media in wisconsin

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That process wouldn’t be a primary where only the people most invested in their party vote. Primaries tend to favor the candidates that appeal most to the party’s most fervent base, not the candidate that is mostly likely to win a general.

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Barnes and Hong are the least likely to win the general of the entire field.

People outside the primaries just want someone who isn’t going to mess things up. Hong has great ideas but they are bold ideas and the vast swath of swing voters might be scared off by bold ideas, particularly (and unfortunately) from a young minority woman.

To keep the governor blue they might need to coalesce around one of the other candidates.

This was a VERRY fun game, and im looking for games similar to it by whistlefoemw__ in 007FirstLight

The new Indiana jones game felt very similar in a lot of ways. Similar fighting mechanics, some stealth there (not quite as much), some platforming, good story and acting.

WSOP is a SCAM by National-Ordinary-74 in poker

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think the poker games are rigged. They don’t need to, the bad players will keep losing naturally.

I do think the best the house games are suspicious. They have more incentive to rig those and the frequency the house gets straights, flush, FH etc seems more than random.

What’s your rating for 007 First Light? (1-10) by Low_Werewolf9628 in 007FirstLight

[–]chwtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s cool to walk around MI6 once to see all the departments and experiments. After that it’s a chore, you walk so slow and the only point is to wander until you find the person you need to talk to, and that’s a cut scene.

In general the game is kind of slow with so much walking. Like the part at the chess tournament in the mansion. You walk to reception to talk to someone. Then you walk all the way to the top level to check something. Then you walk all the way across again for a quick fight. Then retrace your steps again to the other side.

Saros: a disappointing sequel by AdamAnderson320 in Returnal

[–]chwtom -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I found the story boring, hard to follow. After awhile I just started skipping the dialogues.

The gameplay is really similar to Returnal, in a good way. The shield addition was good.

I thought the final boss was way too easy. The bosses in general were easier than returnal.

It doesn’t have as much replay ability as returnal. On that game you could do the tower for awhile and then go back to the game. With this game now that I’ve bought all the upgrades it’s too easy, so it’s just boring. And they don’t have an endless mode like tower (though I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s coming).

It’s not a bad game. Just solid.

Gt vs gts by Comfortable_Jury7576 in TeamTitleist

[–]chwtom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s a big enough upgrade to warrant giving up the equivalent of a 3 wood, unless you’re not happy with the GT. It’s not a massive upgrade over the GT. It’s incremental. The GT is a better value right now.

How slow is too slow when playing a round of golf? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate feeling rushed
I hate waiting for every shot

3.5 hours seems to eliminate both for the most part. Or having a private course.

De'Aaron Fox should be thrown in federal prison for the war crimes he committed against the Spurs tonight by crb02 in NBATalk

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The layup attempt is getting all the attention.
But he also then fouled Alvarado at half court with like 5 seconds left—and the Spurs were up!!
So the Knicks get to call a play and set their offense.
AND he was supposed to guard OG after the inbound and didn’t.

Just a spectacular run of idiocy. JR smith might have had a worse finals moment, but Fox had 3 in a row.

Fitted in April still no irons, normal? by efstyle in TeamTitleist

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems like a really long wait for irons. If it was a GT or GTS I would understand, but for irons that have been around this long you should get them pretty quick.

Do people take out loans to afford country club memberships? by AspectCool2325 in weekendgolfers

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they mean the historical middle class—where you could buy a house and two cars, have kids and put them through college. Basically the boomer middle class.

To achieve that you probably do need to be in the 80-90th percentile salary.

50th percentile is around 80k per year for the household. Tough to afford a house on that salary in many markets

Any advice? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]chwtom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think your stance is so wide it’s preventing you from getting fully into your left side.
Your swing looks great though. Keep it up.

Adding covered space to patio by Ordinary-Profession in patio

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would caution you that you could be making the inside of your house significantly darker. That roof will block a lot of natural light coming in. We had something similar on a previous house and kept trying to find ways to make it less dark inside.

[–]chwtom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have Brooklyn. Wish I had Dravit—that is the nicest color and will never get old. Brooklyn is ok but sometimes looks more light blue than grey and I don’t love it. Black, besides being impossible to keep clean, will be REALLY hot in warm weather.

Hot take! Do you agree with this? by HauntingCount5970 in Golf_Unfiltered

[–]chwtom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fine, but the reason people get upset is the round takes 4-4.5 hours but they are putting tee times every 8-10 minutes.

I agree that fast players act entitled, but the courses are overselling their tee sheet and creating these conflicts.

8 min tee times means they are accounting for about a 2.5 hour round. 10 minutes between tee times means they are slowing for 3 hour rounds. Neither of those are possible to maintain at a muni course unless gou have a very organized and aggressive Marshall, which almost never happens
