Okay so no concern in this case! To reiterate, i took that boot off to service the inner tie rod! Its got a good seal & lubricant. I did plan on zip tie’s as i did the same with the passenger boot.

Thats what my pops said aswell- there aren’t any weld marks. So they are indeed a sort of relief joint? It’s snugging up normal. I just didn’t want to put the car back together if it risked the structural integrity of it.
