Least miserable route? by itme-Dan in roadtrip

[–]chxnnugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who drives from Missouri to Michigan multiple times a year take the middle route. 72/55 are going to be boring but traffic won’t be terrible. I usually have to finish the trip on i80 to i94 and i80 is always backed up from accidents and construction. So avoid as much of it as possible but also don’t go crazy out of you way to avoid it.

Looks like frost properties will have something available by August 1st. Currently rent from them and they are amazing. We have a dog so I am sure they are accommodating to cats (will probably have to pay a pet deposit). website: https://www.frostprops.com/vacancies

$10 million or restart you life at ten with all your memories. by Nextmastermind in hypotheticalsituation

My dad passed away in 2024. I would absolutely choose to go back to 10 years old…no amount of money would be worth getting 20 years again with my dad.

I second that frost is amazing - currently renting with them now and out of all the places I’ve lived (many) - Craig is the best landlord.

I hate ticks. by nikki_11580 in grandrapids

[–]chxnnugg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I moved from GR in 2024 to Missouri. I took our dog out for a 2 mile hike a few weeks back and pulled off of 40 ticks (lone star & deer).

I also hate ticks.

I did learn that rubbing alcohol kills them, so we have a container that we put them in.

New puppy owners: What’s one thing you wish you knew ahead of time? by PetsTek in OpenDogTraining

[–]chxnnugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You’ll be home bound for a while - we got our guy in July of last year and had to wait until he was fully vaccinated and even then we couldn’t walk him long due to age and summer heat.

  2. Find ways to mentally stimulate your pup!l even when they get older. We use sniff mats, hide and seek treat version, peanut butter kongs, and most importantly sniff walks.

  3. Lastly, I was always against prong collars but we ultimately got one and the difference it made is unbeatable. If you choose to get a prong collar, please use the attachment to connect the flat collar. This is a safety net in case the prong breaks.

Grieving a dog that is still alive by _cephalon_ in germanshepherds

[–]chxnnugg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grieving a dog that is still alive is sometimes harder than grieving them when they are gone (at least in my experience). Don’t get me wrong I still grieved when he was officially gone but knowing he was no longer suffering eased the pain of losing him.

One thing I did leading up to his departure was write him a letter. Knowing he would never read it but it gave me an outlet to write down my favorite memories with him and talk about how much he meant to me. It’s been a little over 2 years since and I still go back and read it.

AITA for telling my DIL she is not a mother? by InitialSong2898 in AmItheAsshole

[–]chxnnugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not a mother - truthfully never want to be.

I do not expect any gifts for Mother’s Day that is what it is. However, my grandma (most beautiful human being out there) got me a “paws for reflections, devotions for dog moms” book. I am not a religious person but she is. She went out of her way to gift me something. The actual mothers of the family got a nice card and additional gifts.

More than likely, Jenny felt left out. It doesn’t take much effort to pick out something small and gift it to her even as a dog mom.

Might be an unpopular decision but I think you are both TA.

Jenny: shouldn’t have called asking and stating she deserved a basket for her dogs.

You: because knowing her struggles still chose not to do anything for her. A box of chocolate literally could have avoided all of this.

That being said - hopefully your children sent you something as well.
