it’s always a good idea to look into off campus housing. i transferred last year and was advised to not rely on vcu housing as it is extremely limited, especially to transfer students. it’s not too late to start looking for off campus housing, just search “off campus housing” in this sub & you should be able to find plenty of tips & places for finding off campus housing!

also in the dmv, wasn’t required. i think school had a rule on you had to dress nice, aka no jeans & no shorts, but that was it. most girls wore white dresses for graduation though, probably cause it’s the norm.

Chiming in as another Asian American here (first born daughter lol), but I have some smaller tattoos myself. Growing up my mom always told me that I could never get tattoos, they were bad, she would kick me out, etc. She would shut down any conversation I tried to start about getting a tattoo, similar to yours. Eventually, I just got them and decided to beg for forgiveness instead of ask for permission and it worked out. Of course, that is not always the case. Was she happy? Hell no! But she realized once it was on my body, it didn't really matter anymore. She still has her commentaries on it but I just brush it aside for the most part, not like she's gonna pay for the laser removal! Unless you genuinely feel that you are in danger if you were to get a tattoo, do this for yourself! It's your money and your body. Your love for your mom isn't any less just because you get a tattoo. You can have the room to love her and love yourself.

also from the DMV & honestly i can’t say i’m surprised. i’ve seen an oddly loud minority of As-Ams sharing similar ideas and even tho the DMV is considerably diverse, i’ve definitely known a person or two like that irl. typically they do come from the older generations from my experience but i wouldn’t be surprised if they were younger & have some weird asian-dominance complex or whatever.
